Comments about Kelty Green River 6 Tent:
Superior tent and rainfly. Our family of 4 camped in the highg sierra's and it rained continously for 36 hours over Memorial day weekend. The rain did not get into the tent at all. The rainfly was absolutely waterproof.
Easy setup and takedown. Very comfortable as we had two queen sized airbeds setup inside the tent with room to spare. All the extra stuff was in the vestibule with 2 adult camping chairs as well as 2 small chairs for our kids.

Comments about Kelty Green River 6 Tent:
This sucker is BIG. Used it once, so far, car camping at a music festival (Telluride Bluegrass). Tried to set it up myself, almost made it, really it is at least 2 PERSON SETUP in my mind, otherwise you will struggle. The poles are very long and heavy, hard to thread them in the sleeves without help. Took at least an hour to set it up, almost 2 hours actually being the first time i set it up. Getting the fly on and trying to get the vestibule all done was rough on uneven hard ground. If you do not like a somewhat slow complicated set-up, then look elsewhere. To be fair maybe it would get considerably easier the more times you set it up. Then again, since there are so many areas needing stakes and the complexity of the rain fly/vestibule, I doubt it would get that much easier or faster.
It is very big, and can hold a ton of stuff/people. The vestibule was not as big as I hoped though, at most I would say 3 adults can comfortably sit in it on camping chairs. the vestibule will cover a bunch of gear though, multiple coolers, all sorts of gear.
Other negatives: only one door, no door mat. Poor ventilation on hot days, no star gazing option, limited amount of mesh venting for such a big tent. Car camping only, this sucker is heavy.
Positives: big enough for a party. Vestibule is a nice touch for rain or bugs. Kept us dry on one moderately rainy night (although took awhile to dry out all the condensation that collected between the tent and fly).
Actually I think I am going to sell it and get the REI Hobitat instead since most of my camping is in the Summer anyway and that looks like it is easier to set up and ventilates better.
Good luck to you.

Comments about Kelty Green River 6 Tent:
This is a huge footprint - 3 adults and 3 kids have plenty of room to move around including gear. The vestibule is another large space. BE CAREFUL - this could be too big for a family. Steep walls means adults can stand up and walk around inside. Set up is a breeze after 2 or 3 practices. Wife, oldest daughter (10) and I set it up in a rain and took about 5 minutes (moving like mad). I found it pretty light for a 6-man tent. I suggest using the ground cover (footprint) here in the rockies-prevent floor tears. I hoped to have a better sky view from inside, but i'd say about 50% of sleepers can see sky well. You'll love it!

Comments about Kelty Green River 6 Tent:
We have used this tent on 5 different car camping trips and have had no problems - it fit our family of 5 comfortably - 2 queen mattresses and a pack and play and room for gear inside as well as in the vestibule. Big enough to stand up straight and handle kids and stuff... Set up is definitely a 2 person job, but goes quickly after the first couple of times...We've camped in the fall and spring, but not summer, so not sure how it would ventilate in the heat - performed well in rain. Overall a great, roomy, family tent. My only complaint is that the vestibule floor is the ground - need a tarp or something under it. Also, a little difficult to zip down the fly zippers, but other than that a solid tent for a big family.

Comments about Kelty Green River 6 Tent:
I used this tent on a recent car-camping trip to Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada. We moved around the park a bit and I set it up and took it down a total of three times over eight nights. Prior to leaving, I set the tent up once at home. In the midst of doing so, a powerful gust a wind arose and split one of the metal ferrules on one section of a shock-corded pole. I called Kelty and they sent me a replacement ferrule at no cost. [...]The tent set-up takes some time on the first try and it's always useful to read the directions. It can also be accomplished, with some difficulty, by one person. With two, it's a 20 minute set-up once you know what you're doing. On our second night in the park, we had 10 hours of heavy downpour. The tent performed well and kept us dry. The only potential design flaw I would mention is an area of the roof between the dome formed by two-crossing poles and the pole that crosses the front of the tent. We had a little bit of water that pooled in this area on the rainfly. It, in turn, contacted the mesh screen roof of the tent and we had minor dripping inside. I mention "potential" design flaw above because I'll allow for the possibility that I didn't entirely have the rainfly guyed out correctly. The guying I did do, however, did not prevent the pooling of water in that one section of the rainfly roof. Overall impressions:The tent is heavy, but that is expected for a base camp-like tent. It is also very spacious and easily accommodates two queen size air mattresses with additional gear. At over six feet, I also enjoyed the ability to stand in the tent and not only at the area directly under the dome but pretty much throughout the tent. What set the tent apart for me, however, is the vestibule. At over 80 sq. ft., it is the largest I've experienced with a tent and it was quite useful in the buggy conditions of the Canadian spring/summer. (Algonquin is a beautiful park but it is also infested with swarms of menacing black flies!) The vestibule served as a nice respite while still allowing for enjoyment of the park scenery. It held a couple of camp chairs and large cooler with much room to spare. This is not a vestibule you have to hunker down and crawl around in. Rather, it is one for relaxation and comfort.Given the purpose of the vestibule, the rainflies for the screens are on the inside of this section and are tie downs rather than zippered. Despite this, it stays quite dry during heavy downpours. The vestibule is a floorless section and the only moisture you should find in this area is what might run under the tent in a heavy downpour. We didn't find it to be an issue.a very nice tent for car-campers looking for a comfortable experience

Comments about Kelty Green River 6 Tent:
I posted a review when my wife and I bought it and set it up. Well, I thought now that I've used it in real conditions I'd update my review.
Set-up is getting easier. The more you do the more familiar you are.
We had 1 queen size air mattress, two single use thermarests and one pack-n-play. Total of 6 people in the tent. We were able to put all our gear and have plenty of room to move around. Even room for the kids to play with their toys and read books.
The vestiuble is outstanding! Plenty of room for everyone. Nice design. It rained on us early in the morning, but the rain fly did exactly what it was supposed to do...not a drop of rain on the inside.
The only drawback is that it did get a bit stuffy with the rain fly on, but pulling up the back and opening the front vestibule allowed air to flow through.
It was the perfect size for our family of 6. I'd buy it again. Hope this review helps.

Comments about Kelty Green River 6 Tent:
First, we just got the tent, and I agree with everyone else, it's huge! We set it up inside our house (had to move the furniture out). It took a bit to get it up, but I know after a few times, it'll just be like any other tent. Practice makes perfect. Don't be fooled by any comments that it's too difficult to set up. If you've set up a featherweight 2-person tent, then you'll grasp onto the concept quickly. Just take your time.
We have 4 kids and we all jumped in the tent and there was plenty of room. I didn't get to set up the vestibule, but I know how big it's going to be based off the dimensions. There is plenty of room for two queen size air mattresses and one twin, with room to spare. I'm 6'2" and I could walk through the door, no hunching over to enter, just walked right in. Ceiling height is fairly consistent inside, tapers at the corners, but that's to be expected.
It's sturdy by all means and I know that the rain fly and guide lines will make it that more sturdy. When we actually use it oustide, I'll update this post.
If you're looking for a family tent for 3 or more kids, this tent is great. Even if you're a family of 5, you might be able to get away the Green River 4. But for the price, this is a great tent.

Comments about Kelty Green River 6 Tent:
This is a great tent. This is NOT a backpacker's tent. Think of it more as a basecamp. My wife and I try to go camping quite a bit and after a bad (wet) experience earlier this year we decided to upgrade our tent. Smart move. The GR6 is a great for weekend retreats b/c there's plenty of space for us, any gear we might have and our two dogs. Despite what earlier reviews said, this tent is quite easy to set up. It does take two people though. The fly withstood some substantial rain and provided an awesome sitting area when weather wasn't bad. One word though: if there's no chance of rain or you expect warm-hot weather, don't use the fly. Best to rely on the tent's mesh top to keep cool.

Comments about Kelty Green River 6 Tent:
We love this tent. We travel with 2 pets and children. This tent allows everyone space and we even can use either the vestibule or in the tent for kennel space. This keeps the dogs under control at night. It is very comfortable and tons of space. We put it up with two people and it is fairly quick.
The vestibule is great for coolers and even getting out of rain to take off your shoes. We put out small tarps or rugs and that keeps the tent clean.
I would buy this again any time- Owned since 2004

Comments about Kelty Green River 6 Tent:
Great tent, bought in 2006 for base camping out of a truck, in our case. Have used at Strugis, SD for motorcycle events, Deer hunting in Texas, etc. There are only two of us so we have a massive amount of space for sleeping, chairs, tables, etc. Vestibule is terrific for storage of coolers, as well as chair and a table for light cooking, coffee, bar setup, etc. to stay out of the elements.
Can't do much better for the price and size. Not too tough to setup as I have done it by myself several times. 30 minutes or so max. Have not camped w/o fly as rain has always been a pending factor but feel it would be great with no rain in forcast given the netting to allow air flow.
Would not use in hot summer months w/ fly as air flow is limited with fly on. At the beach it would be perfect w/o fly. Again porch is large and roomy so can do lot's with that added room. Clearly a great value. Friends call it the Tash Mahaul.
