This was the only rack that would fit my factory installes side rails. I did not have to purchase the additional cross rails from the car manufacturer or Thule. Big savings.

Selected this rack because my car (2008 Toyota Highlander) had factory roof rails but no crossbars. I wasn't looking for a rack that could transform to carry other stuff (luggage, kayaks, bikes, whatever). Just a few snowboards.

Installed in about 30 minutes the first time, it would probably only take me about 10 minutes next time now that I understand all the parts.

Carries 4 snowboards but bindings on the the ones facing down will touch your car's roof. Shouldn't be a big deal but the clearance just isn't that much. May depend on how high your roof rails are.

Drove from Bay Area to Tahoe and it was quiet & stable.

Only con was that the locks weren't very solid and I won't be shocked if over time they become difficult/sticky to operate.

For the price I was happy.
