Comments about Nikon Action 8 x 40 Binoculars:

Beautiful bright image. A bit bulky. Rated not waterproof which is a disadvantage when the weather turns quickly. I find them hard to adjust to the separation width of my eyes to eliminate the black rings around the image when they are not adjusted to the right width. Eyes pieces are mounted to a flexy hoop, should have been more solid. I find 10 power more useful.

Comments about Nikon Action 8 x 40 Binoculars:

This is really an excellent quality pair of binoculars. It is ruggedly constructed and ergonomically designed for comfortable viewing. I have had them now for about 10 months and have gotten excellent service from them. The only small quibble I have is that they are not quite powerful enough for the detailed, long-distance bird-watching that my wife and I use them for - a 10-power binocular would suit our use better than this 8-power. Other than that small thing, We are very pleased with them.

Comments about Nikon Action 8 x 40 Binoculars:

Bought these before a recent trip to Big Bend National Park. We didn't want to spend too much money, but didn't want junk either. Because we were only doing short hikes, size wasn't an issue for us.

We were pleased with the range and clarity of these binoculars. Seem to be well constructed. If you are looking for a good product at a moderate price, this will probably work well for you.

Comments about Nikon Action 8 x 40 Binoculars:

I received these binoculars as a present right before a trip to the Coast Range in British Colombia. I used them to take in the slopes during our hike and choose routes -- the wide field view is great for that. I then went whale watching in Boston last year and left them behind (along with a great deal else) to travel light. I did not miss my jacket, but these binoculars would have been invaluable.

They are nicely compact and I enjoy the wide angle view which works very well for landscapes and finding birds. They are not as powerful as some others I have used (once used pair from Bushnell) but it's power was almost too much for landscapes and the bird only 200 yards away. The sole downside to this pair is that the lens caps may be lost easily. I recommend putting them in your pocket as soon as the binoculars are removed from the case.

Now, after the whale watching experience, whenever we visit friends out of town, or just run to Annapolis, I have them in a backpack in the car ready for birding or whatever tall ship may be coming through. Don't leave home without them.

Comments about Nikon Action 8 x 40 Binoculars:

I use these binoculars for bird and wild life viewing while walking my dog along the Colorado River here in Grand County. Easy to remove the eyepiece lens cap that stays connected to the neck strap and begin viewing. I've lost both objective lens caps, however, as they apparently flip off from catching on my shirt/vest/jacket. [...]This is the best pair of binoculars I've ever owned and are a joy to use. Very easy to adjust the diopter and focus.
