    Too Loud

Comments about CycleOps Magnetic Bike Trainer:

This trainer is just OK. It is easy to setup and pretty stable. The biggest downside, and dealbreaker, for me is that it is very, very loud. When I spin inside in the winter, I want to watch TV, and the sound has to be so loud be heard over this trainer, it is impractical.

If you are really on a budget, and just want something to throw your bike in for some short sessions in the winter, and you live alone, and don't want/need to hear anything around you, give it a shot. Mine will be going back to REI. Instead of buying a much more expensive trainer that might be quieter, I'm going to upgrade to a quality spin bike.

Comments about CycleOps Magnetic Bike Trainer:

I bought this trainer based off the reviews. My husband wanted me to buy another brand but I got this one because the reviews were good. What trainer are you people using??? The instructions are so unclear that I had to watch a YouTube video because the photos did not match what the words said. It also may be that my cyclocross bike either doesn't fit properly, or this thing is meant to be unstable. I'm kind of scared to use it because if I make a simple adjustment to the back holder, my bike literally falls off the trainer. Noisy...NOISY doesn't begin to describe it. More than likely unless I can figure out if I somehow missed a step, I will be exchanging it for another brand.

This is just what I was looking for- I have only had this for a few days but have already logged 3 rides. Was VERY easy to set up (15 minutes) and I was riding. Not loud at all but I am in the basement on a cement floor with a road bike so that might make a difference. Also the resistance is really good- enough for just about anyone. I was very surprised how tough the ride can be! Best bang for your buck!

Comments about CycleOps Magnetic Bike Trainer:

Great for winter training. I'm a heavy guy who pedals fast and this works quite well for me. Adjustable resistance mixed with the ability to shift gives you an almost limitless array of difficulties. The magnets will never need maintenance. I ride a Cannondale hybrid which fits perfectly in the frame.

Comments about CycleOps Magnetic Bike Trainer:

Wrote a previous review of this product before I contacted CycleOps about the problem. Out of the box the resistance unit vibrated badly and made an extreemly loud noise when in use. I exchanged emails with CycleOps and they sent me a new unit with a pre paid return authorization shipping label to return the bad unit. The people at CycleOps were exteemly nice and promised they would real world test the replacement unit. It seems they did because the first time I used it it was smooth and quiet. Thanks Cycleops.

Comments about CycleOps Magnetic Bike Trainer:

Read a lot of reviews before I purchased this unit and most of them said it had too much vibration and was too loud. I couldn't pass up the special sale price and just finished my first 30 min. spin on the unit to try it out. I adjusted the resistance a few times to diminish the noise and vibration but its still more than any other brand I've had or tried. Takes some getting used to because its not quiet at all. The vibration goes through your whole body as well. On my old unit, (defunct), the dog would lie a few feet away and sleep while I spun. With this one the dog paces back and forth and won't lie down. The resistance seemed even throughout my short spin and to get more or less I used my gears. For the price I suppose this is a good product but if the vibration gets any worse I'm taking it back.

Comments about CycleOps Magnetic Bike Trainer:

I use this as a cycling option during wet, dark days. Assembly is a bit like Ikea furniture - not quite as easy as it seems from the description, but still fairly straightforward. Adjusting and riding the trainer works well, and it folds away really small for storage. The unit wobbles a bit when I'm standing up on the bike. Even with road tires, it's a bit noisy. However, for the price, it's a great unit.

Easy set up. No bells or whistles, very simple but that is what makes it a worth while investment. Just get on, start pumping the pedals and start sweating. Perfect for getting your legs in shape or just maintaining your endurance. A little loud so put on head phones or crank up the volume on the TV.
