    Comments about Petzl Charlet Aztar Ice Axe - Adze:

    Picked these up a couple of seasons ago and love them. I use them for alpine ice and low angle water ice. Not quite a radical as the Quarks for Water Ice, but I feel that the function better for plunging in the snow on alpine approaches than other WI tools. Also a little more aggressive than some of the bent Ice Axes for the steep stuff.



    Cons...A little too short and aggressive for most mountaineering but not as super duper on the Water Ice as other tools (kinda stuck in between). So great for Alpine ice and if you want one tool that can pull double duty.

    The leashes could be a bit better, but they get the job done

    Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
