The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Delta Cycle Threadless Stem Riser:
Easy to install, you do need a long 5mm hex driver to install the stem bolt.
I don't like the highrise bars, I prefer a flat bar and this gives me the 3 inch rise I want with the flat bar that came on my bike.
This stem riser is a real bargain, a new highrise bar would cost between $75 - $160.

Comments about Delta Cycle Threadless Stem Riser:
Fits great and was really easy to install. A friend gave me his old bike and I needed to fit it to me. This riser helped my back out during long rides and prevented my arms from locking up.

Comments about Delta Cycle Threadless Stem Riser:
This stem riser really helps take pressure/weight off these old wrists. In reading reviews and info from REI I did not see mentioned the necessity (IMO) of using a torque wrench to safely install this riser. The riser is at a critical junction and could create a potentially dangerous situation. It really needs to be installed with a torque wrench after putting bike grease on the bolt threads.

Comments about Delta Cycle Threadless Stem Riser:
The amount of rise is adjustable within a range of about 2-1/4 inches to about 3-1/8 inches. The packaging says it will raise the stem up to 3-1/2 inches, but I think that is a mistake (maybe add spacers?).
This extender also moves the handlebars slightly closer to the seat (due to the head tube angle). On my bike it is about 1/2 inch closer when set to the maximum rise.
Installation will affect the adjustment of the headset bearings, so follow the installation instruction sequence carefully to avoid problems. The front brake cable on my bike was just barely long enough so that I did not have to change it to another one. Installation was not especially difficult. Your front wheel should be on the ground when you remove the stem or the fork could fall out of the head tube. The hardest part was getting the handlebars in perfect alignment with the wheel again. You will need two different sizes of allen wrench, and maybe a third to fit your stem, and one must be long enough to reach through the extender.
I am tall and leggy, and I have to raise the seatpost quite high even on larger frame sizes. This usually puts the handlebars too low for comfort for me. This product has improved the fit of my bike significantly. My handlebars are now about level or slightly higher than my seat. I can ride without my hands going numb and I get less muscular tension in my shoulders. Riding is more enjoyable now. If your handlebars are already level with your seat, adding this will give you a more upright position like with a comfort bike. It can be transferred easily to your next mountain bike.

Comments about Delta Cycle Threadless Stem Riser:
This is an attractive, easy, and inexpensive solution to raising your bar stem without having a negative effect on ride/control, resulting in a more upright stance. At 6'3", I typically raise the seat between 4"-6" depending on which bike I am riding, and this means I'm leaning over more - the solution is to raise the bars 3", getting back to the correct riding position. Easy to install, black matches most bikes.

Comments about Delta Cycle Threadless Stem Riser:
I'm 6'3" in bare feet and even my 62cm Motobecane Mirage Pro road bike was causing lower back pain and neck stiffness about 45 minutes into my ride.
The problem was I was was too hunched over in the saddle when in the riding position due to the bars being too low. I was constantly also finding my elbows in a straight locked position rather than bent.
This stem extender put my bars at an ideal height for me. Install is easy but, yes, you do need a long 5mm allen wrench like a "T" handle one in order to reach the restraining bolt at the bottom of the extender for tightening.
Biking is all about comfort. If you're not comfortable even on a long ride then something isn't right and you're not prone to keep at it.
I would definitely recommend this produce and REI's price was the lowest I could find.

It was easy to install but you will need a apex on screwdriver to but the bolt in. Besides that it works well.

Comments about Delta Cycle Threadless Stem Riser:
like some other reviews i enjoy my bike except for the handlebar height. on my bike, the delta stem extender raised my handlebars a tad over 2 inches.
this small difference made my riding comfort much better. itsaved a stem-o-rama test and new handlebar purchase. my elbows, wrists and back feel better and my bike has better handling characteristics (2009 rocky mountain metropolis).
somehow the more upright position feels better taking off from stops as well.
some configurations may need spacers to properly secure the stem extension. in my case, i had a stem cap light mount that need to be palced on another part of my bike but this didnt turn out to be a problem.

Comments about Delta Cycle Threadless Stem Riser:
If you have ever said to yourself "I wish my handle bars were higher" wish no more just buy this and solve the problem. I have had my bike for 3 years and always wanted to put the bars up, finally broke down and bought one of these after a few minutes to install I was pleasantly shocked at how much more comfortable the ride was then irritated with myself because it took me so long to finally get one.
