Comments about Thule Quickdraw Tie-Downs - Pair:
I "inherited" three of these straps when someone left them in my truck. for a long time i never used them because they look kind of spindly and weak. one day they were all i had to tie down a HUGE stainless steel BBQ. i suddenly realized the glory of these straps. they are a bajillion times faster and easier than ratchet straps. (and they still hold just as much weight!)
the only drawback i've found is they tend to get tangled up if they're just thrown behind the seat. i solve this by leaving them hooked and snugged down along the underside of my bedrail.

Comments about Thule Quickdraw Tie-Downs - Pair:
I purchased these tie-downs when I purchased my first kayak from REI.
When used as intended, they do a great job of controlling the pointy ends of a canoe or kayak on top of your car. They also work just as good when used as a pulley hoist system to pull your boat up into the rafters for storage.
Each ratcheting pulley is rated up to 150 lbs. adding up to a whopping 300 lbs capacity. I haven't had any issues with them failing and given the weight of my kayak (60 lbs.) I don't suspect that they will.
This product makes lifting your boat for storage even easier due to the fact that the pulleys ratchet as you pull up the load, so you can gradually lift your boat from one end and then the other until it reaches the celling. When your kayak is high enough, just release tension on the end of the line and the special pulleys lock the line in place securely holding the load in position. When you are ready to go paddling again, simply press the small release lever and let your boat down. Simple as that. Great product!
