There are better books on the subject

    Comments about Spirited Waters:

    I've read several books on kayaking the Inside Passage, and this is the worst by far. If, on the other hand, you want to read of the author's spiritual interaction with rock, feathers & seaweed, or would like to know how every tree, wave and sea urchin is a living metaphor for menstruation, then this is the book for you!

    On the plus side, the author's descriptions of foraging for meals are very interesting.

    For better accounts of the challenges of paddling the Inside Passage, I'd suggest "Passage to Alaska" by Tim Lydon or "Kayaking the Inside Passage" by Robert Miller.
