Comments about Delta Universal Mega Rack:

this product first of all has awful directions which needs to have their steps 1-5 completely reordered. When working on it it did not seem to fit at all on my commuter road bike which does not have a special frame by any means. A very basic bike. After realizing that I could no longer use it I tried to install it on my girlfriend's bike with is more of a mountain/road hybrid and there was no way to make it fit on that one either. Spent 3 hours on it, and have nothing to show. Also it seems as if the package is missing about 2-4 bolts.

Comments about Delta Universal Mega Rack:

It is a universal rack so the fit took a little work. I mounted it to a Trek 7.2 FX (700c wheels). Mounting to the dropouts was pretty easy, but mounting it to seat stays took a little bit of work and bending as it said in the instructions. The toughest part was bending the seat stay mount to match the angle of the seat stay; thick brackets = tough bending. It is light and feels very sturdy. The instructions were good and I had parts left over.

Comments about Delta Universal Mega Rack:

I have 3 of these racks mounted on a touring, hybrid and a mountain bike. They are super strong and light. I routinely overload them with groceries, camping stuff, etc. The rails that hold it to seat stays may not be long enough for smaller bikes. Also, because it is aluminum, it will weather/wear out and loose the looks after a while. Touch up paint is useful. The adjustable mounting height makes it easy to adjust to any bike height-wise. Also, I was able to use a modified U-bolt to adapt this rack to a bike with disc brakes. [...]. If you need to use the directions to install a bike rack, you probably should not attempt to do it yourself in the first place. Go to you local bike shop and have a pro install it for you, don't waste your time.

Comments about Delta Universal Mega Rack:

The rack itself is fine, but the mounting hardware leaves a lot to be desired. I've mounted this on a 20 year old hybrid bike. The screws are all either too long (interferes with the chain) or too short (won't reach through) for attaching the vertical supports to the bike, so I had to get out to a hardware store and buy different screws. It seems a sturdy, stable rack once you get it installed, though.

Comments about Delta Universal Mega Rack:

While the rack itself is fine, the installation hardware package was terrible. The bolts are made of a soft metal and the heads are easily destroyed (noted on a couple of other reviews). The included allen wrench is the wrong size, which makes the bolt heads strip even more readily. And the included brackets, which are provided if your bike does not have integrated mounts for the rack, were made of a thick plastic. That's not necessarily bad, but the included bolts were not long enough to reach the other side of the bracket. According to the directions, those brackets were supposed to be metal. I suspect a thinner metal bracket would have worked with the included bolts but that's not what was in the package.

Comments about Delta Universal Mega Rack:

After several months of use, it has been a good rack. Given that it is very low on the price scale, I am surprised at how good it has been. Easy to mount on my Cross Check, but several of the fasteners stripped out and I needed to replace them. Other than than, it has been great.

Bought this rack for use to and from store.
Or to carry packages from hardware store.
The only thing I did not like was I had to go to the hardware store and buy 5mm bolts to replace the screws that came with the rack. The allen wrench is 4mm and the bolts seem to be larger, not 4.5 or 5mm and striped out when tightend. Would have rated it higher but for the screws.

Comments about Delta Universal Mega Rack:

I put this rack on my bike this past summer and have to say that I used it, along with a bungee net for securing things, almost everytime I rode to work. I don't have a huge commute (4.5m) but the rack made transporting a few tools and a change of clothes a lot easier. I also frequently made rides to the library to pick up books which were strapped to the rack with the bungee net.

I had difficulty in getting the rack attached to my bike at first and discovered that it's only sortof universal. I eventually managed to attach it and it is solid.

All in all a good buy for my meager needs.

Comments about Delta Universal Mega Rack:

I picked up the Delta Universal rack because I wanted a rack I could adjust for different tires, fenders, and even swap between bikes.

So far so good, but the seat stay arms are almost too short for my bike. But I was able to get it mounted and very solid. It ain't goin' nowhere. I also like how the seat stay arms are black to match the rack.

The main adjustable arms are great. I've got mine sitting as low as possible just hairs above the fender.

Mine came with a rear mount for a blinkie. Too bad blinkies rarely come with a mate. So I took an L-bracket and made my own. It puts my planet bike super flash horizontal, but it's solid.

My only complaint is that the rear supports aren't out far enough towards the rear to prevent large panniers from rubbing against the tire or spokes. Luckily, my fender support arms act as supports and keep mine out.

I recommend but only if someone is handy enough to deal with the shorter seat stay arms. The included p-clamps also make things easier for bikes without seat stay braze ons.

It fit perfect on a Trek MTB 3700. It's nice to have the on demand storage. I bought one of those bungee net things to go with it and so far I'm happy.
