The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Leatherman Juice S2:
I carry this with me on every hiking trip. I like the whole "juice" series. They are small and light enough to be easily carried, yet still big enough to put some power behind it to loosen rusty bolts. I'm a big fan of the gerber-mini but use this one when I want a bit more power.

This replaced a Victorinox Tinker which I carried for many years. I carry this knife everywhere, and it is the first thing I reach for when I need scissors, screwdrivers, or of course a knife.
Good Things:
* Nice size knife blade. VERY sharp out of the box.
* Scissors don't have an extra spring thing to break.
* Assortment of standard screwdriver bits and full-size Philips bit. Real, usable screwdrivers.
* Full-size needle-nose pliers and wire cutters.
* Folds up small. Fits easily in my pocket.
* Bright shocking orange makes it hard to lose.
Bad Things:
* The scissors are folded behind a combination bottle and can opener. I use the scissors about once a day. I use the opener about never. Oops.
* During incautious moments I've had the pliers snap shut on my fingers.

I have a bunch of multi tools and bought this small one specifically for lightweight backpacking and it works beautifully for that purpose. Its sharp and cleans trout very well. Only thing I wish it had a sheath, if it did I would use it on a more regular basis, without a sheath its not comfy enough to put in a pocket but for backpacking going light I wouldnt take the sheath anyway.

Comments about Leatherman Juice S2:
This is a great multitool. I carry it every day in my pocket. The knife holds a very sharp edge. I use it for everything from carving wood to opening packages. The screwdrivers are very useful and easy to access. The lanyard ring requires a separate tool (such as a thin key) to pull out. The scissors get harder to use as dust builds up, but the bottle opener is a very good design. The pliers are sturdy and the wire cutters are great. Overall, it is a very useful, sturdy, and compact tool.

Comments about Leatherman Juice S2:
I've had this model for several years now (at least 3) and it's been a real workhorse. I carry it daily. All the tools actually function as intended and I really appreciate the small straight screwdrivers and the "real" philips driver.

Comments about Leatherman Juice S2:
I wanted a multitool specifically for hiking and camping out of a backpack. I spent quite a while shopping for one that had the few things I need without a whole bunch of things that I don't need. My requirements are very minimalist. I need:
1. A pair of pliers. Early last summer my buddy had a zipper blowout on his backpack. It required both his and my pliers to get the teeth lined back up so he could close the zipper. A pair of pliers is a must. One minor issue with these. When I'm squeezing down on the pliers, there's the tiniest bit of flex in the tool that I'm a little concerned about. I worry that one day when I'm really bearing down on something with the pliers, it's gonna break.
2. A pair of scissors. For opening freeze-dried meals, mostly. But also if I need to cut bandages. For certain tasks a knife doesn't work as well as a pair of scissors. I like the scissors on this. I like the feel on the thumb. The blades are a nice size.
3. A good sharp knife that's not too big and not too small. For a large knife I'll carry a separate large knife. This one is a little larger than a paring knife. It locks open so I know it's not going to fold when I'm using it.
Aside from those three things, I don't really need much else. Here's some thoughts on the other gadgets:
A can opener is okay to have, but not really necessary. When I hike into the back country of Yellowstone I'm not lugging cans of food, I'm carrying lighter dehydrated or freeze dried food. I suppose I could picture going on a day hike and stuffing a can of chili into my pack, in which case a can opener would be useful.
I'm trying to think if any of the camping or hiking gear I have has screws of any kind. The screwdrivers are pretty small and take up little space, so it's not bothersome to have them there.
This tool does NOT have: a file (I don't need it), tweezers (I have a good pair in my emergency kit, don't need an extra), a toothpick (I can whittle one with the knife), extra knives (I just need the one).
This isn't quite the perfect hiking/camping/backpacking multitool, but it's the closest I've been able to find. The real trick was finding a multi tool that had both pliers AND scissors, without having 20 other things on it. Take a look for yourself. Look at all the multitools that have both pliers and scissors and see how many extra gadgets they have.
This is a cool little tool

I bought this multi-tool for my wife. She loves it, but I am constantly " stealing " it to use. This tool has everything you need.

Comments about Leatherman Juice S2:
This is a great small and compact multitool that gives you just what you need without making the tool too fat and hard to hold. However, at [$] dollars, it is one of the more expensive of the compact multitools. A great sheath is available but sold separately for another [$]

Comments about Leatherman Juice S2:
It's a great tool but I find the flat screwdriver heads are in there way too tight, I usually need a key to help them out. When any of the screwdrivers are used the whole tool tends to flex a little too much for my comfort. Everything else is great though.
On a belt it's brilliant but in a trouser pocket or to carry on a trail it's just too heavy.
Best thing: it's the first Leatherman tool I've purchased which has been truly sharp from the pack.

Just got this, brand new at a flea market. Did'nt come in a box nor did it have a sheath, but it is unused and only cost me [$]!! Have'nt used it yet but seems to be solidly built. Will be great at work and around the house. I've used a squirt p4 for about a year now ,but this will be able to take on bigger tasks. [...]
