Comments about Coleman Exponent Xpert Stove:

I like this stove for it works great and has good temp control. Easy to light and packs a punch.
Problem is I hear the fuel is being phased out and getting harder to get. Too bad coleman built a good stove and then pulls the plug. I know about the adapter but who wants to carry that in a backpack.

Comments about Coleman Exponent Xpert Stove:

I have had this stove since Backpacker rated it an Editor's choice a while back. True, fuel can be a little hard to find, but it will continue to rate high up there for me until they stop making the fuel canisters. Then I might go for the adaptor. The type of fuel mix and the way it is consumed by the stove is unique and makes it a big plus in cold weather and high altitudes. I have used this stove on upwards of around 1000 hiking miles on 2 and 3 week backpacking trips. Always reliable, no maintenance issues. Canisters can be crushed and recycled, a nice bonus you can feel good about. On the John Muir Trail, both MTR and VVR carry replacement fuel canisters.

Comments about Coleman Exponent Xpert Stove:

I bought my stove a number of years ago & have had no problems with it. I have found that if I am car-camping I am more likely to cook bigger meals, as opposed to backpacking where I would cook smaller meals, as I didn't like carrying a lot of xtra weight around...tummy-wise =). Not sure if this wld fit the average car-campers needs. I used it on a recent solo-trip though & served me well.

This stove performed well on very cold mornings at 10,000+ ft elevations. Long burn time on fuels and built in regulator helps flame stay consistent when fuel is low.

Comments about Coleman Exponent Xpert Stove:

Coleman made a nice product with this stove. At one time it was a Backpacker Award Winner. BUT, it was built to use only Coleman Powermax fuel. Problem is, Coleman has phased out Powermax fuel. It is hard to find and expensive when you find it. Coleman has produced an adapter for Lindel valve fuel canisters, but it will cost you [$] and of course you get to pack the extra weight and bulk. Too bad, it was a nice stove.
