Though a little pricey, this stuff works wonders AND it's environmentally and bike friendly. I've just finished my first bottle of it after several washings. You can either spray it on and wipe it off with a dry towel, or you can rinse it off with water. It's pretty amazing how it made my bike look like new each time I washed it. It cuts the grime and oil. If mud or oil is caked on, you're still going to need to scrub. This stuff will loosen up the muck a bit, but it's not going to obliterate the inch-thick mud.

It's not that I'm lazy ... I just had to try this stuff to see if it really works. It does! I'm not sure how well it would work on serious caked-on grime but I was totally pleased with how well it cleaned up regular day-to-day dirt. I was particularly amazed at how easily it took off the grease and grime from the chain, cassette, and chainrings. I was expecting to have to use a regular chain cleaning tool but the grime dissolved away after spraying the bike wash on and just letting it soak for a few minutes - no scrubbing. I've used regular dishwashing liquid and water before now and it didn't do nearly this well.

If I ever see this on sale I'm buying a couple of bottles!

Everything else I have tried was either too harsh or too mild. This works for road grime and oil to off road, caked-on dirt.

I have been searching for a cleaning product that won't harm my old bike's finish, but will clean the gunk and grime of every day commuting. As all the other products I've tried didn't work, I was skeptical. But, this stuff works.
