      Comments about MSR Lite Lifter:

I tried this handy lifter on a three week backpacking trip on the AT. I love it! I've been experimenting with different (lighter) cook systems and ran into a brick wall with burned fingers. At first I was doubtful that this little thing could handle a pot of boiling water, but it's truly rock solid! It's great with alcohol stoves because the invisible flame can easily burn a wrist or synthetic shirt sleeve if you get your hand too close to the stove (and I can't extinguish my stove until I remove the pot). This lifter gives you a little wiggle room. It's easy to use and easily fits inside the smallest cook pot with room for other things like a stove and lighter. It weighs exactly one ounce on my home scale. I expect it to last a very long time.

        Comments about MSR Lite Lifter:

I for years have had the other style MSR pot lifter, and I still use it for summer hikes. But, when it is -20F and your turning snow into liquid gold the not rubberized pot holder can feel so cold to the ungloved hand that it feels white hot. In those temps you just cant afford to waist fuel because you had to drop the pan! And it's hard to pour water with huge mittens on, so having the rubberized handles on this pot holder makes all the difference!

          Comments about MSR Lite Lifter:

The MSR Lite Lifter is invaluable if you have or will buy the MSR DuraLite fry pan. I was dubious at first whether or not it would work, but it really grips the pan very well (and it's lighter than an oven mitt). The reason for the 4 stars and not 5: I could tell that over time the metal would scratch the DuraLite non-stick coating. But, wrapping a couple of small Gorilla Tape strips around the edges works very well--grips and doesn't scratch. Why carry a mitt or pot holder that weighs more? This little thing does the trick and weighs just one ounce!

            Comments about MSR Lite Lifter:

The Lite Lifter is a necessity with MSR's Ti cooksets. I used the Pocket Rocket to boil water in a 1.5 Litre pot, and the thing's handles were HOT. This is a nice tool to have--much more stability in handling the pot for pouring boiling water than using a cloth or your shirt to hold the pot's built-in handles.
