      I've owned a Quest for nearly 7-8 years. It's been very reliable and sturdy--it withstood the rigors of numerous backpacking trips, adventure races, rainstorms, snowstorms, and falls. In terms of size, it's a good choice. Nice and light weight. Mine still has the original bulb in it too, and it continues to work well. Only downside (which can be vital when backpacking) is battery life. Battery life is a major concern, and batteries just don't seem to last too long with this one. If you're doing short hikes or car camping, it's darn near perfect. I'f you'll be going into the Canadian Rockies and don't want to haul a few extra sets of batteries, go with another model that has LED's.

        Comments about Princeton Tec Quest Headlamp:

        There're a lot of LED lamps out there now, but this low-tech lamp I owned just never dies, until near ten years later the battery compartment was corroded. Battery life is what you'd expect from a low-tech incandescent bulb, but it has been so reliable, and I carried a spare bulb on over-night trips. Once in a while I read horror reviews about unreliable LED lamps, so I'm getting another one to replace my original that died.
