        I have used this pole on an occasional basis for several years, primarily as either a tarp pole or the center pole for a pyramid tent without problems. This weekend, however, was the first time I have used it as a tarp pole in high desert winds.

        It bent. Slowly, gradually, but it bent. Only one section, in a gentle arc. I finally had to take down my shade tarp to preserve the pole. Back home, I put the section between two blocks and slowly bent it back (almost) straight. So, I echo two other reviewers who said it doesn't do well in high winds. Next time I'm at REI I'm buying the heavier Kelty pole.

          I use 2 poles with my Kelty Noah's Tarp to set up a dining fly or sun shelter when camping with a small Boy scout patrol. Basic poles nothing fancy. Price seems steep for a collapseable stick.

          this tent pole was able to keep my shelter up in tent shreading wind's. was a little bent after but is still in use holding up to the wind and provideing shade to my family on camping trip's
          i dig the pole but read a review that said spend the extra money for the other pole i agree go big or go home.

          don't be afraid to spend the extra $$ for the "kelty adjustable tarp pole". if you don't, you will be replacing this staff pole after it bends in the wind. better to spend $10 more now than $40 later to replace your "staff pole" with the beefier "adjustable pole"
