I have known lots of people who wear Danskos so I finally caved and bought a pair of myself. They are now the shoe that I wear the most. I have long needed a shoe that I can wear to dress up a pair of jeans and a blouse enough to wear to a party or date and that are super comfortable. Living in Alaska, I need a pair of shoes that are warm and comfortable. The ballet flats that I used to wear simply don't cut it. Danskos have thick enough leather and thick enough soles that my feet don't get cold during five minute walks to class or to the car.
These shoes are extremely comfortable and well worth the price. My only complaint is that they are rather slippery. For wearing around the house or outside in the summer and even in snow, it's no problem but walking on compacted snow or ice, they don't have much traction. I haven't fallen in them yet but I have slipped a couple times.
I bought these shoes in black and I will probably by another pair in another color when I can afford it. These shoes are well worth the price and I do not regret buying them.
Service and delivery comments:
I can not commend REI enough for their delivery. Living in Alaska, I am used to companies saying they have "free shipping" or "free shipping in the US" and then going to check out and discover that free shipping only applies to the 48 contiguous states. Thank you, REI, for shipping free even to Alaska. Also, the shipping is speedy and whenever I order, I get it several days before the expected delivery date.

Dansko's have a roomy toe box, protective heel-cap, a slip-resistant sole, and are made of high quality materials. Great arch support. Your heel will sit higher than your toes – fantastic for anyone suffering from Plantar Fasciitis.
Cons: Some people have problems with the top of the shoe rubbing on the top of your foot. Also, I noticed that since the company split; some of my shoes squeak when I walk. My shoe store told me that it may be an air bubble. Because this squeak doesn't appear until after a few wears – I would only buy this brand from a store like REI who will accept an exchange after wearing the product.
Overall the Cons are not enough to keep me from buying another pair. I have 5 pairs now and wear them daily.

These shoes are WONDERFUL. I wear them for casual outings, as well as in professional settings. Super comfortable - can stand all day in them. I have had my pair for 4-5 years, and they still look like they did the day I bought them - and I wear them ALL the time! I highly encourage anyone to buy these shoes (or any Dansko for that matter). They will last you a lifetime, and make your feet happy!

If you don't like shoe shopping, these are for you. My first pair lasted six years. I wore them nearly every day in all kinds of weather. Great for work and casual wear. The only complaint: Danskos are impossible to run in. Clearly, they're not running shoes, but you can forget about chasing the bus (or your dog, toddler, etc.)!

Bought these shoes after much research with Dansko.com On Oct.15 bought them, the next day at work I wored them for the first time, noticed I felt much taller, and unstable, at the end of my shift my feet hurt, but the clogs are slip resistant.
I continued to wear these clogs during the week, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, by Wednesday after a full shift, after almost faLLING once, almost twisted my ankle, and I could not wait to take these clogs off, that Wednesday night I returned my clogs back to REI with no problem received my full refund back with no problems.
I love these clogs, but my feet would ache during my shift the only comfort I had is when I slipped them off my feet during my shift.

I was happy to find these in my size and in the color I wanted.
Unfortunately, I have flat feet and after wearing them for several hours in a museum, the muscles in my feet became quite sore. A month later, I still have to ice them.
I checked with a podiatrist, and he told me that since I have flat feet, these clogs are not a good choice for me as they put a lot of strain on the muscles of my instep/arch. This was a big surprise, since they were very comfortable when I wore them for short periods of time around the house.

I really want to find the right pair of these shoes, as so many folks I know swear by them, but the sizing is a frustration. I am a very standard ladies size 11, and the Dansko 42 is way too small--toes squishing at the end of the shoe. I would order a 43, but REI doesn't currently carry that size in either women's or men's shoes. If you are a ladies size 11, try the 42, but chances are that you will need a 43 to get the true Dansko fit. Here's hoping that REI adds the 43 to their assortment, to accomodate all of us who wear a size 11.

One year ago I bought these after my money was returned from orthotics that didn't work anymore. I've been wearing the same Dansko Professional pair of shoes daily for 1 year. Work, Casual, Yard Work...and they are still going strong, still look good, and I haven't suffered from Plantar Fasciitis since the first day I put them on. Besides the Plantar Fasciitis I have hammer toes, Morton's toe and my right foot is a 1/2 size smaller than the other. I am also 60 lbs. overweight and am on my feet alot. Now, as a result, I can also go barefoot for at least 3 hours without pain, previously I couldn't put my foot down without limping.
Like others here I agree that the shoes are rock hard so I inserted an extra thick full length sole pad. You must try them on in person with socks or nylons and padding to get a proper fit. As the shoes wear they get looser, the leather edge begins to crack and the shoes become more unstable...I have twisted my weaker ankle a few times but now I'll wear an anklet if my ankle is feeling less stable that day. Otherwise, I like the constant balancing the feet must do...I find it strengthens my ankles more than injures.
My major complaints are: the shoes SQUEAK when you walk. I've bought two other pairs and they all squeak, some louder than others. Sometimes it gives me a headache and I wear ear plugs. I notice as my old pair ages it squeaks less.
Other complaint: Too loose in the toes which causes soft corns...it could just be my problem with my hammer toes hitting the hard shoe surface while gripping for balance.
I do get foot cramps periodically, mostly when driving but usually when the shoe is new.
I have tried many other shoes, however, this shoe, with its high arch for support appears to handle most of my major problems even tho' it has created some initial minor ones. I vary between 2 different sizes to find the right fit. I wish I had found these earlier my feet would have been a lot happier and healthier.
