Comments about Bear Bag:
This product makes the sometimes quite annoying task of setting up a bear hang very easy. Contrary to what other reviewers have said I have found this rope to be quite strong. On my last trip we hung at least 20 pounds of food on the line which we used in multiple different spots for 10 days with no problems. It is thin enough so that it is easy to tie a knot that will stay and isn't too heavy to carry with you.

Comments about Bear Bag:
This item is a case of good concept and very poor execution.
Thought it would be handy to not have to fumble with tying rope around rocks and instead use this nifty gadget, but wow were we wrong.
The rope is thin and stretches VERY easily so if your food bag has any weight to it you are out of luck and won't be able to get any lift over a branch no matter how hard you pull. We discovered this the hard way while in the backcountry, but luckily we had back-up rope with us.
If they ever make this with better materials it may become worth it, but for now spend your money on something useful to take on your trip.
Happy trails:)

Comments about Bear Bag:
I bought a pair in 2001 and they've held up great and worked amazingly well. I was surprised at how strong the line is. And unbelievably, it's never gotten irretrievably hung up in a tree for me (in Oregon and MT). They are fantastic. Maybe the bad review was from a lemon.

Comments about Bear Bag:
I got this product over 5 years ago and would not go to the back country with out it. It is easy to use and works great. I also keep one in my firefighting gear to use as a tag line or to attach to a door to use as a search line
