Comments about Mountain House Beef Stroganoff For Two:
I don't like to hand out 5 stars to just anything, especially freeze dried food, but this absolutely hit the spot. I was starving and cold when I ate it so naturally anything would have tasted good, but I really almost tore the bag open to lick the insides. Even the mountain lion prowling our campsite would have had to fight me for it. It takes about 13 minutes to cook which seemed like an eternity, but not really that long in the great scheme of things.

Comments about Mountain House Beef Stroganoff For Two:
As with most Mountain House meals, it requires a minute or so more than stated in directions.
I added a few drops of tabasco to spice it up, and it tasted great after a day of hiking.
I know it states that it feeds 2, but I ate it by myself and it was perfect for 1 hungry hiker.

Comments about Mountain House Beef Stroganoff For Two:
Tasty!!! I liked the meat having 'a bite', if you want it tenderer add 5 minutes to the cooking (soaking) time. Even my very picky 8 year daughter ate about 1/4 serving before asking for 'just pasta'.
In cold weather conditions you need to either soak in inside an well insulated container or reheat it after the soaking in the pouch, else you will have cold dinner. The pouch alone let its contents cool down to quickly!
The missing star is for the serving size / energy obtained. 310 Cal is nice for a diet but for a backpacking dinner ... Might be enough for an adult and a child, but definitely not for 2 adults after 1/2 day backpacking. The Mountain house pro-pack version of the same dish counts 520 cal in a single serving, which seems more appropriate.
So for backpacking go pro or eat both servings :)

YUM. I haven't had any other flavors, but this one is grubbin. I ate it for dinner, and had the smaller vacuum packed one for breakfast. It's way good.

It is actually pretty tasty, even the meat.
I found it needed to steep in the hot water a little longer than the instructions said, before the beef tasted it's best.
I'll buy more.

Comments about Mountain House Beef Stroganoff For Two:
One of my family's favorite. It's tasty and just way easy to prepare. No muss, no fuss...a little hot water and you can eat it right out of the bag. We scrape the bottom to get the last of it. Goes well with a chianti or cabernet. Just the thing to cap off a long day of hiking. Warms you all the way through and a good carb load right before bag time on a cold night. I usually wrap the bag with a fleece to keep it warm after adding the water so it'll cook all the way. Also need to stir it really well right after adding water.

Comments about Mountain House Beef Stroganoff For Two:
Mountain House is by far the best tasting freeze dried food. The other brands just don't seem to taste right and/ or tend to have a texture problem. Mountain House gets it right. The Beef Stroganoff is my favorite and the "for two" size is just right for one hungry backpacker. It might be a little high in sodium content, but for the improved taste, I'll accept it. Also, I generally let the stuff "cook" for 5 minutes or more longer than the suggested time on the back of the bag. The bag also burns down to a very light compressible aluminium foil-like base so it's easy to pack out.

This was surprisingly good, especially after a long day backpacking. Plenty for two females with a cup of soup each as an appetizer. Did have to cook it a few minutes longer than the package specified in order to have tender noodles. Lots of mushrooms--which I loved!

Comments about Mountain House Beef Stroganoff For Two:
I am a first time user of the freeze dried meals and overall was really impressed with the meals, but this one in particular was very salty and wasn't very creamy. I was really supprised because nearly all the other campers I work with said that this one was their favorite.

REI response:Glad you're liking your Mountain House meals! Note: MH and REI recommend packing out the entire pouch rather than burning it down to a smaller size. Thanks.
