For your reference, this page contains historical product information.

This single-wall expedition tent is built to handle extended use in the harshest environments. It shrugs off heavy winds and snow loads.

  • With the creation of the EV 3, Mountain Hardwear has built a super-strong tent that is not only waterproof and breathable, but fire-retardant as well
  • For strength, a system of non-stretch panels map the tent's main tension lines along the poles and down the side panels to the main guy points
  • These panels act as a fabric truss structure that resists deformation by holding the poles in a stable arch
  • Compared to traditional tent fabrics that stretch and allow poles to bend, this truss structure reinforces the poles with the tent body structure
  • Conduit™ FR body is made from a strong polyurethane-coated polyester; ripstop nylon floor is lightweight, with reduced porosity
  • All seams are welded and waterproof, so there is no need for seam sealing
  • Atlas Scandium XL™ poles are very light, super-strong and completely field serviceable without tools
  • Additionally, these tough XL poles come with subzero Shok™ cord and heat-treated aluminum threaded pole tips
  • Trim floor design fits well on narrow ledges and snow platforms
  • Integrated vestibule with floor also has a convenient zippered porthole for grabbing snow and getting rid of dirt
  • Welded waterproof vents on the tent body and vestibule can opened for fresh air or shuttered closed during storms
  • Water-resistant, inverted, double rainfly zippers permit easy ventilation
  • Large, non-yellowing, non-clouding, clear SVX film windows add light and views
  • Gated Power Clips at all pole intersections increase structural strength
  • Large stake-out loops accept both skis and snow pickets
  • Bar-tacked stress points add strength and durability; bias-bound zippers allow ease of use and extended zipper life
  • Four large welded mesh storage pockets help keep things organized inside
  • Includes stuff sacks, aluminum Y-pegs and owner's manual
  • Average minimum weight specification is based on tent, rainfly and poles only

This tent features Mountain Hardwear's Watertight Construction: Thoughtful design, taping and welding technology combine to make this tent watertight off the shelf. No seam sealing required.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Ev 3 Tent:

This is the best tent on the market. Last summer this tent and I spent many a nights together on some large mountains. This tent was my santuary on a freezing Baker and an extremely windy Rainier. It may be the perfect tent.It is extremely easy to set up. We used only four guylines to hold the fly down (it's freestanding) and thats all it took. I was forced to sleep with two other large smelly guys, yet there was still pletty of room and I never felt cramped. It's a simple tent to pack. We split up the fly and the tent and had two roughly same sized loads which easily fit into a compression sack.In terms of ruggedness, this tent is bomber!! At camp sherman on Rainier (9500ft) we encountered the worst wind storm I've come across on a mountain. Winds were strong enough to flip other 4 season tents with people inside. Other tents collapse from the wind. This tent was the only tent to go unscaved with minimal flexing (mind you we only had 4 guylines in the snow as well). This only proved that this tent is bomber. The only downside: who wants to spend [$] on your tent? The price is high, but equaled in value.
