Comments about Delta Threadless Stem Riser:
I had ordered the Novara Safari touring Bicycle after much research online, and at local bike shops. The bicycle was 99% of what I was looking for, perfect in all aspects but one. Handlebar height. All reviews I have seen mention this fact on every size frame of the Safari.
Due to the thread-less stem design, there was no way to adjust this problem, so a riser was the only way to correct it.
The Delta Thread-less Stem Riser is a perfect match for the Safari, and without any adjustment of the gear or brake cables, I was able to install this item and raise the bars to the height I require. While the bars did move back a fraction closer to the seat, it is of no difference.
I recommend this item to anyone that purchases a Safari and needs the height of the handlebars raised without any changes to the bicycle other than loosening and re-tightening of some allen screws. From the 99% perfect bike, it is now 100% for me.

Comments about Delta Threadless Stem Riser:
I commute to work almost every day on a mountain bike and I always wished my handlebars were just a tad higher to take some pressure off of my wrists, arms and back and so I could sit a little more upright in the saddle. I was looking at changing out the stem but I saw this Delta stem raiser and figured I would give it a try. It was very easy to install and it does exactly what I hoped it would. Now my commute is much more comfortable! It looks a bit odd the first few times you look at your bike, but I will sacrifice looks for comfort.

Comments about Delta Threadless Stem Riser:
After riding my new touring bike for over a year averaging 100+ miles weekly, I began to develop pain between my shoulder blades with occasional numbness in my lower arms and hands. I wanted to raise my handlebars up to relieve pressure on my back/shoulders, but the threadless type stem didn't allow for any more height. I discovered the Delta riser at REIs website and then rode my bike out to Redmond, WA store, purchased and mounted it at the store. I set it up so the handlebar was level with my saddle. On my 16 mile ride back home, pain/pressure disappeared immediately. Highly recommend it.

Comments about Delta Threadless Stem Riser:
I cycle 210 K per week mostly on paved bike paths. I have had spinal fusion at several locations so I am no all that flexible. I have to ride in a more upright position and this allows almost any modern bike to be modified so a more upright position is possible. No complaints, I have installed it on road, mountain, and city bikes. If the stem matches it will fit but you may have to make all the cables that are routed to the handlebars longer. This is a somewhat more difficult job that installing this riser.

Comments about Delta Threadless Stem Riser:
The riser was very easy to install. By raising the handlebar height, it takes pressure off your shoulders and wrists. On a Metro, you will need a front brake cable that is about 3" longer

This gave me just the amount of rise I needed. 15 minutes to install. Good deal here at REI. It was a bit more at [...].

Comments about Delta Threadless Stem Riser:
This stem riser has allowed me to get my handlebars up to a comfortable height and made cycling fun again. Be careful when removing the original stem bolt as the front wheel will fall off once removed scattering all the spacers, etc.
Great product if you'd like to make your mountain or road bike more comfortable.

Comments about Delta Threadless Stem Riser:
The amount of rise is adjustable within a range of about 2-1/4 inches to about 3-1/8 inches. The packaging says it will raise the stem up to 3-1/2 inches, but I think that is a mistake (maybe add spacers?).
This extender also moves the handlebars slightly closer to the seat (due to the head tube angle). On my bike it is about 1/2 inch closer when set to the maximum rise.
Installation will affect the adjustment of the headset bearings, so follow the installation instruction sequence carefully to avoid problems. The front brake cable on my bike was just barely long enough so that I did not have to change it to another one. Installation was not especially difficult. Your front wheel should be on the ground when you remove the stem or the fork could fall out of the head tube. The hardest part was getting the handlebars in perfect alignment with the wheel again. You will need two different sizes of allen wrench, and maybe a third to fit your stem, and one must be long enough to reach through the extender.
I am tall and leggy, and I have to raise the seatpost quite high even on larger frame sizes. This usually puts the handlebars too low for comfort for me. This product has improved the fit of my bike significantly. My handlebars are now about level or slightly higher than my seat. I can ride without my hands going numb and I get less muscular tension in my shoulders. Riding is more enjoyable now. If your handlebars are already level with your seat, adding this will give you a more upright position like with a comfort bike. It can be transferred easily to your next mountain bike.

Comments about Delta Threadless Stem Riser:
This is an attractive, easy, and inexpensive solution to raising your bar stem without having a negative effect on ride/control, resulting in a more upright stance. At 6'3", I typically raise the seat between 4"-6" depending on which bike I am riding, and this means I'm leaning over more - the solution is to raise the bars 3", getting back to the correct riding position. Easy to install, black matches most bikes.
