Comments about Metolius Ropemaster I Rope Bag:
I hold a 60m dynamic dry rope in this bag. It has a massive tarp, which is great for changing shoes and keeping the rope off the ground. The bag can take a serious beating (has been thrown down more than its shares of rappels with no issue. The padded sling is great and makes it a dream to carry for outdoor hikes. The bag is a big small, however; which means it cannot hold all my other rockclimbing gear.

Comments about Metolius Ropemaster I Rope Bag:
This rope bag is relatively good quality in design and materials. Compact enough to stow inside a pack for transport. Okay for over shoulder use but not as comfortable as others IMO. Easy to stuff when in a hurry to get gone. An older design had 2 straps for backpack mode or hand carry loop on end. That dissappeared..sometimes new design is not progress.

Comments about Metolius Ropemaster I Rope Bag:
I am so pleased with this bag. My friend, who works at REI, picked it up for me, and I could not have been any happier. It stores my gear perfectly and the tarp is perfect for laying out the rope, and keeps it from getting dirty. I like the durability and design of the bag and would recommend to any climber.

Comments about Metolius Ropemaster I Rope Bag:
This bag is excellent for general use. Solid and durable with good size tarp. Roomy enough for a 70m rope and some basic gear. The cinch cord and buckles are sturdy and easy to use. The layout simplifies rolling up a rope in any state of disarray. It has held up admirably after several years of exposure to dirt, mud, sand, rocks, and snow. It attracts dirt but cleans up easily. I agree that a second strap would be nice, as would a handle and pouch. For a longer approach I'll put my rope in a pack instead.

Comments about Metolius Ropemaster I Rope Bag:
I use this bag indoors and outdoors. I like how it has a large tarp and it can easily fit a 60m rope plus maybe some quickdraws. However, if you're going on a long approach, you're going to wish this thing had 2 straps. It gets very uncomfortable wearing the one strap over your shoulder for very long. You can just stuff it in a backpack to solve that problem though.

Comments about Metolius Ropemaster I Rope Bag:
Great rope bag, I've tried others and always come back to using the ropemaster. I like the draw-string AND buckle closure systems, and unfurling the rolled tarp has become a favorite pre-climb ritual. The thick tarp keeps water and dirt away from the rope. As other reviewers have noted the single strap can be uncomfortable on long hikes, in which case I stuff it into my backpack. Excellent choice!

Comments about Metolius Ropemaster I Rope Bag:
This bag rocks. My only complaint is that the single strap is not all that comfortable.
