Simple plastic whistle with pea. I wanted to avoid a metal whistle on the off-chance that my lips would freeze to it in cold conditions. Can't beat the price, but it doesn't appear cheap. The only imaginable failure would be if the plastic cracked in super-cold temps, but that's just a hypothetical. LOUD. I like that it doesn't come with a lanyard; I zip-tied it to the zipper of my AMK first-aid kit for easy grabability. No regrets!
