Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rock solid in high winds Purchased this tent last Christmas as it didn't appear our daughter was going to return the Eureka Pinnacle Pass she 'borrowed' two years ago. We used it for the first time this past weekend for three nights on on Portsmouth Island (Cape Lookout National Seashore). Setup was a breeze - maybe ten minutes max before we had the tent staked out, the pads inflated and the bags unrolled. And this was the first time we'd used it. We did take sand stakes as those included with the tent would have been useless in the sand. Temps were in the upper 30's and winds steady at 30 mph with gusts to 45 on Sunday night yet we were completely comfortable. There was minimal rustling and flapping from the fly and we both got a good nights sleep. The wind was still up when we broke camp on Monday morning and take down was even easier than the setup. Time will tell if the 'window' becomes a problem but, at this point, I'm completely satisfied with the purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Weakness in rainfly ruins it PVC window in rainfly breaks down, a known problem. In my case Eureka replaced it with a leaky fabric patch. I had to pay one way shipping and wait six weeks. The patch leaked, no amount of seam sealer or tenacious tape or shoo goo would fix it. Eureka did not stand by the poor repair job. Eureka told me I can only expect a rainfly to last 5 years. They still make the rainfly with the same defective window. You won't see this window on the true military version. Eureka is going to SELL me a new defective rainfly but it will take two weeks to ship thanks to inventory. I loved this tent at first, kept us dry, kept out blowing sand, stood up to wind. If only it had a good rainfly it would be such a nice tent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 4-season, heavy-duty I've used this tent over the course of 6-7 years, pitching in everything from April/March to November, in places like the ADKs and places in the Northeast. This tent is a bit bulky at nearly 13 pounds, but it is warm, dry and reliable. Remember to seam seal your tent before using, and bring along some seam grip and tenacious tape for those eventual pinholes. Not the best tent for the hot summers and traveling light, but for durability and 4-season worthiness it can't be beat for the price. I've used this tent kayak camping and it compresses easily.
