GoPro HERO3+ Black Edition Camera - Adventure Packageis rated4.375out of5by8.
Rated4out of5byfromso far so goodso far the GoPro black is a great camera. I've used it on my helmet, mounted on the frame of by bicyle, dog mounted, chest mounted and swam in the pool with it. it's very versatile. the side mount that comes with the camera isn't very stable on my bicycle though. The GoPro video software can take a while to figure out, iMovie is much easier in my opinion. it's great to be able to see what I'm recording through my iPhone too. in all, it's a great camera and easy to use and takes really good quality video.

Rated5out of5byfromLove the new Go Pro Black editionI use it to record my bike commute from Hackensack NJ to Lower Manhattan in NYC 36miles round trip. I also use it to record my training rides when I take the road bike out for those long rides. I wish the adapters were smaller. Light and Motion who specializes in bike lights uses better, smaller, sleeker, lighter adapters. I think if Go Pro could pair up with them and ask about there adapters they could make an excellent adapter.

Rated5out of5byfromMy favorite cameraI like to use my GoPro mostly for snowboarding. This is actually my third GoPro camera and each one I've gotten I love more than the first. GoPro is upping their game and making their cameras better and better each year. One of my favorite aspects of the camera is I can give it to my kids to take pictures. They can drop it in the pool or throw it in the lake (using the floaty backdoor of course). Its a great all around camera if you want a sturdy camera. The one concern is if you leave the WiFi on it will drain your battery pretty quickly. Overall its a solid camera that super durable.

Rated5out of5byfromGo Pro Cameras are terrificBefore you buy a GoPro notice that there is no viewfinder, no zoom and few of the controls of traditional cameras. However, because the images shot with these cameras are extremely high resolution AND the GoPro Studio software (free from their site) is extremely powerful, there is no need for a zoom or viewfinder. The software allows you to zoom in if your subject is too far away and "reframe" your video if your aim is not perfect. I strongly recommend, however, that you make sure the camera is fixed in as stable a position as possible because these do not have image stabilization. This is my first GoPro and I am EXTREMELY happy about the versatility of this product. It allows for awesome creativity. If you are looking for a traditional camera, this is not it. If you are interested in a creative ride, this is your camera.

Rated4out of5byfromAwesome a must have IMOI've whitewater kayaked for about 2 years now. I've always wanted a GoPro, however I always needed (or wanted) something else. A new boat a dry suit, better paddle, etc etc. Or really the level I was at didn't justify recording an outing. So after a lot of time getting the must haves I knew I could get this. It SOOO nice having this and I'm super happy. I've had it for three weeks now and have done three kayak outings and a lot of playing around with doing time lapse, driving, etc. Its easy to use and there is a whole community to help and teach you all kinds of cool tricks and tips. Now in whitewater kayaking as you run a rapid with size you get a tunnel-vision. You're in the action, but so deep you're only seeing whats needing to be seen. Sometimes you can easily miss the beauty or scale of it all. The GoPro lets you relive all that and done so without skipping on the visual quality. Also being able to slow it down in editing it nice. The 720 @ 120fps looks nice and can really allow you to slow things down when dropping them to 25 or 30fps in editing. The 1080 is really really nice @ 60fps and slow motion is not as able to be slowed as much, but 50% isstill nice. But it still looks super nice as the 1080 res on the cam is crisp and clean. The superview I don't use but good to have say if you're surfing or wakeboarding and want to have the cam looking back from the bow and seeing your full body. Some might have cons; not many here on REI reviews overall. But on the GoPro site people do talk about its battery life. The cam comes with a 1180ma battery witch is not much when you're recording HD and using WiFi (remote/App) I can get over an hour of life no problems with WiFi on. However a 64GB micro SD card can hold over 4 hours of HD footage. I'm not complaining, just buy some more batteries. Plus to have a longer life battery either battery technology will have to advance (not GoPro's line of work) or you'd have to have a bigger cam. This thing is small! So tiny is freaky all it can do and how good it can do it. So you'll need spare ones, they're only 20 dollars each. I bought three more and the dual charger. Also you'll need other accessories like for one the lens covers! 20 dollars and worth every penny to protect the case lens and the lens itself when not in the housing. I've gotten a handful of the GoPro accessories like the suction cup mount for driving and its really has suction (I think GoPro rates it to like 130mph but there are video of it doing 180mph), the dual battery charger, car charger, etc and they are all well made. The first guy mentioned no LCD screen. You can use the GoPro app to playback video, or buy attachment witch both will work the settings (as you can with the remote) and use as a viewfinder. Really this is a POV cam. You set it up and you go! You're not going around the wedding or family reunion getting stories with it. So I get to the river put the cam on my helmet and check my phone over the app and WiFi to make sure I'm pointed were I want and lock it down. Also he mentioned the fisheye effect. I like it, but can be easily removed with the free GoPro editing software on their site, Cineform. Lastly, I said in the start at first in my whitewater kayaking career I wasn't doing much worth having a GoPro. Really a lot of what I was doing was skill building and of coarse learning. Now I don't know what action sport you'll be doing. But I wish I had this when I was running whitewater from the start to be able to watch again, judge myself, and see everything I did wrong. But really its just so cool to have to share with the people who don't get to go out with you or even do you activity and see why you go kayak when it's below freezing or its been raining for two day straight and you're out there in it, that epic wave you rode and no one was around, that fresh powder slope you hit, or 100 feet underwater and saw a shark. Oh and it doesn't come with storage so make sure you get a nice class 10 mirco SD card, check GoPro site for there recommendations.

Rated3out of5byfromSome things to consider about GoProThis is my second GoPro, so don't think this review means I hate it. P) Some things to know: There is no focus mechanism--it's a fixed-focus wide angle lens. There is no zoom function--it's a fixed focus wide angle lens. Neither close-up shots of things like flowers nor distance shots of scenery come out well. Because its a wide angle lens, everything not in the center of the view is distorted (fish bows effect). There is no view finder. (However, it's such a wide angle lens that if the camera is pointed in the general direction, you'll get whatever it is you're shooting in the picture) There is no LCD screen to review your pics on--you have to get the LCD Backpack for that. There is no sort of power saving or battery life management in the software at all. It seems to get 2 to 2-1/2 hours of battery life regardless of whether its recording non-stop or just on but not recording, but having the remote control makes it much easier to turn it on and off between pics or videos. While rolling my kayak, the remote always loses its (wireless) connection to the camera, and takes a minute or two to reconnect, so if I've rolled I have to wait for it to reconnect before I can stop the video. The video color quality of the Hero3 is much better than on the Hero2. The camera is NOT waterproof--that's what the housing is for. The menus and controls are very simple to use and easy to understand. If you need a rugged camera for extreme action shots, the GoPro is what you need. If you want to take good pictures, there are better video and still cameras for less money.

Rated5out of5byfromGreat Camera for capturing adventure!I upgraded from the Hero2. This is quite the upgrade! The picture quality is great and the features to edit video later is amazing! I use this camera as much as possible. It is easy to carry with you anywhere as long as you have the right attachments. The attachments allow you to use this camera in any situation but they do cost a little bit of money so you should expect that. The field of view makes filming a breeze. I like the remote controller so I don't have to take my helmet off to see if the camera is operating correctly. I do think that GoPro should have included a velcro strap with the remote to attach it to your wrist or other apparatuses. The iPhone app is much faster than previous versions of the Hero lineup which is fantastic. I am excited to really start putting this camera to the test. The two button controls get a little clunky if you are trying to change settings quickly. It is best to correct and manage your video settings in the parking lot or at home and not in the field when the action in happening.

Rated4out of5byfromGreat Camera - few caveatsI have had about a week to test this camera out and I am very pleased so far. After coming from a Hero and Hero 2, the size and speed of this thing is amazing. The caveat. There are many reviews and forums that are reporting a soft focus for distant objects (further than 5-10 yards). Pictures compared to the Hero 3 are not as sharp side by side. Do some research before purchasing. If coming from a Hero or Hero 2 like myself I would say it is agreat improvment. I mainly use this as an onboard vehicle camera (car and bike) and plan on use it vacationing as well. Definitely not a power user.
