REI Members get back an estimated $ 11.90 on this item as part of their annual member refund.

    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

REI Vagabond Tour 40 Pack is rated 4.6667 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice travel pack w/ zipped harness cover This updated spring 2014 pack combines good looks with capacity, front loading ease, comfortable straps and hip belt, stow away cover for harness, zip open extra outside pockets, etc. for a smart and highly functional bag. Had to return it due to the 23.5 inch length made the bag fall too low on my hips.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Deceptively Large Just used this pack on a two week trip through Europe. Only needed one laundry stop half way - The capacity is perfect. The overall size is manageable, so when we had to carry it when touring vs dropping it at a hotel, it wasn't too bad. (Our other pack, a RedWing 50, is close in that regard). It has just enough side pockets to keep handy items - handy (However, the RedWing 50 has more and, in reflection, we used those more). The styling is very clean and uncluttered which meant moving through crowds was easier. No issue using it as a carry-on. Being able to hide the straps behind a zip up panel meant less of a cluttered feel in small hotel rooms - we used that feature more than we thought we would.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Travel Pack I recently decided to switch to a carry-on panel-loading travel pack. I am a 5'7" F with ~17inch torso and after reading reviews and visiting the REI store, I narrowed it down to the Osprey Farpoint 40 S/M or the REI Vagabond. After 20mins of walking around my neighborhood I found the Vagabond to be just as comfortable as the Farpoint 40. The Vagbond also packed more easily and with more room to spare than the Farpoint. The technically larger capacity of the Farpoint seems to be used in the front padded laptop compartment. I would prefer to just use a padded laptop sleeve packed closer to my back to evenly distribute the weight. I like the compartments in the Vagabond- the top zippered portion, while not lockable, is useful for frequently accessed items and the side expanding pocket is perfect for a water bottle. Further, when the Farpoint was packed it looked lumpy and sloppy while the Vagabond kept its shape and looked sleeker. The only features where the Farpoint beat the Vagabond are listed below. Also, even when packed (with the top flat compartment empty) I only measured the pack to be 22.5in long so I don't think I will have any problems carrying on this bag. Pros: Easy to pack Retains shape when packed Convenient compartments Cons: Hip strap- less padding than the Farpoint and the padded portion doesn't wrap all the way to the front of the hips Handles- the Farpoint handles are padded and very comfortable. The REI Vagabond handles are just nylon straps. I may buy a shoulder strap or extra padding for the handle for when I zip away the shoulder straps.
