Wore for a week prior to assure break-in. Felt comfortable. After hike the sole base separated from the upper material. The lace holders could have better placement for better adjustment. Other than the separation issue, the boot performed well.

Rated4out of5byBrian ShockfromAnimal-Safe Hiking BootsI bought these boots specifically because they were vegan. REI doesn't have a lot of footwear made without pieces of dead animals, so I was very happy to find these.
They're good, solid boots that make my feet feel almost indestructible.
However, on the first day of hiking with them, a raised ridge against the inside surface of my heels caused some huge blisters. It was my fault for putting the boots through their paces before I'd had a chance to break them in. I also should've been wearing better socks. Fortunately, my girlfriend loaned me a pair of soft, thick REI hiking socks after that, and I had no more problems.

Rated5out of5byAce SlimfromGreat boot for the moneyI bought these to replace a pair of boots that I've had for 30 or more years of solid service, so I was a little apprehensive. These fit well and were very comfortable with minimal break-in and provided good support while carrying a 60+ lb load over rocky terrain. No hot spots or blisters at all. Very pleased so far. My 18 year old son (pictured) also bought a pair and he is equally pleased with them.
