    Sawyer Squeeze Water Filter - 32 fl. oz.is rated4.6667out of5by6.
Rated5out of5byfromLight and easyI replaced my MSR mini works filter with this and i haven't regretted it. Since i'm a comfort driven backpacker, I need to stay as light as possible and with this filter and two platypus 2 liter bags I'm just under 10 ounces. Its also a lot easier to get my clean water, I just fill my two bags after camp is set up, screw the filter on one and just squeeze the water out as needed. If water is going to be scarce i just fill one or two bags and I'm good to go. As for the bags that come with the filter, you'll see why I use the Platypus bags!

Rated5out of5byfromGreat Product. Buying ASAP.I'm writing this review based on the experiences of one of my fellow hikers that used this product on a 3-day backpacking hike along the App Trail. I actually carried tablets only. Let me tell you, I was jealous. The bags were easy to fill from the streams and filtering was super quick. This system was great for filling water bottles or getting water for dinner- The only downside was that if you needed to fill a large bladder, you'd have to fill up the bag, filter, and transfer the water to your bladder multiple times. This could take awhile, but probably would still be faster than waiting 1 hour for purification + taste tablets to take effect. You'd wouldn't be able to hike during this time though like you could with tablets. After our trip, I'm looking to buy one asap for our Spring trip. You won't go wrong with this product and it appears to me to be the fastest/easiest way to filter water.

Rated4out of5byfromLightweight, needs better compatibilityJust finished using this filter on a multi-day trip in Grand Teton NP. Weight much less that the First Need system I've used for the past decade, which was the main attraction in purchasing. Overall, it worked well. I was concerned at first that the squeeze back would be difficult to fill, but this was not an issue. You just have to make several passes through the water source or have a flowing stream. However there are a number of drawbacks. First, for a party of five, squeezing through water for 5 x 2 liter Platypus and a 6L Dromedary for cooking/cleaning took the better part of an hour every evening. This is about twice as long as the heavier First Need system I can compare directly to. Although the system will work with gravity, the squeeze bag really only fills to about 750cc, so for our use, we'd need a much bigger container to hold the unfiltered water to make this practical. Sawyer makes such a system, but it's heavier. Second, unless you are going to drink the filtered water directly from the filter, for which an attachment is provided, the process of getting your filtered water securely into a water bottle hasn't been well thought out. If you have a Camelbak, you can pull off drinking valve/tip and mate the tubing to the filter. For our Platypus bags, I had to buy some replacement tubing and cut off the drinking valve and carry this as a separate piece. For the Dromedary, there is a shower attachment part that I modified to fit, but again, another bit to carry. Third, our squeeze bag quickly developed small holes that would leak water as we squeezed it, this didn't matter much in terms of filtering volume, but did make it very difficult to keep the clean and "dirty" side of the system separate. Fourth, this system doesn't filter viruses, so I am sticking with my First Need system for 3rd world travel in populated areas. Still, the low weight feels great every step...

Rated5out of5byfromGood Solid FilterWe took 3 of these along with several extra bags deep into the wilderness of West Virginia on an extended Boy Scout backpacking trip. The filters provided plenty of water for all 14 of us, and stood up well to fairly rough use. We have used gravity fed in the past, but these are much better. I back flushed once during the trip, and the filters worked great. They are very light and easy to carry.

Rated4out of5byfromGreat and LightweightThe filter works very well and is incredibly simple to figure out. You can filter some really nasty water, and back flushing is easy as pie. The only con is that the bag can be hard to fill if you have just a tiny little pool. Overall it works great, is WAY better than a pump, and is the most lightweight filter you can find.

Rated5out of5byfromSawyer Squeeze is dependable and easy toI have used the same Sawyer Squeeze filter for about 12 weeks of backpacking. Eight weeks were thru hiking the Grand Enchantment Trail in Arizona and New Mexico. I had to use many cow troughs for water. It has performed admirably. I carry the backflush syringe which I use every couple of days and on zero days when I do about 20-30 backflushes to get rid of gunk in the filter. I pre filter bad water through a bandanna. I carry the filter and one 2 liter bladder. One bladder lasted about 40 days of backpacking--then cracked toward the top, which I fixed with some glue dots and duct tape. I had shipped a replacement bladder in my bounce box.I roll the bladders like toothpaste tubes and don't "squeeze" them.
