Comments about Exped ComfortFoam 7 Sleeping Pad - Long Wide - 2012 Closeout:
Before taking it out of the stuffsack,I measured the packed size, and it's larger than the advertised 7x14", more like 8.5x16." Then I opened the inflation valve and left it alone for 24 hours and it sucked in some air, but it was no more than 20% inflated. Exped advertises this as a self inflating pad, and I don't consider it self inflating. Although the integrated pump works well. I deflated it,and let it sit another day and there was no improvement. Then I deflated it and I couldn't get in back in the stuff sack and I really worked at it. My guess is the foam expanded. This pad is comfortable and durable. I was going to use it on top of a cot, and keep it, even though it wasn't self inflating, but when I couldn't get it back in the sack, I returned it. It may work for others, but be prepared to pump it up 80% or more, and have a larger sack or duffel etc to put it in. It's too big for backpacking so it's use would be for basecamp but a true self inflating pad would probably work better.
