Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite In-R-Cool Bike Bib Shorts - Men's:

After reading the above (below?) review, I was a little worried. Like the previous reviewer, I've been wearing PI bibs for quite a few years and I'm very happy with them. Knowing that products change, maybe even evolve for the better from one year to another, I worry they may change in a way I don't like. That isn't at all the case with these bibs. I've only ridden them twice, a commute of 15 miles round trip and a 40-miler this morning. I'd say that if I could afford it, I would throw out my older PI bibs and ride these exclusively, that's how much better I find them than previously.

I especially like the wider bib/shoulder straps which I find to be more comfortable. The chamois seems to a bit larger, but less bulky. All in all, I don't anticipate any troubles from these. If there's a concern, it's how well they will hold up. As long as the hold tight to my thighs, and do so for a few years in rotation with two other pair, I'll be happy.

I own three other pairs of PI bibs from various years. I LOVE them even though they were purchased in different years they all fit the same. I expected the new 2013 bibs to be the same fit as my others but they were far from it. They fit very tight and I was not able to settle into the chamois which would have caused saddle sores. The length is also longer which I am not a fan of. Bottom line, if it's not broke don't fix it. I am returning these and will not buy another pair of PI bibs again because I can not trust that they will fit.
