Gerber Bear Grylls Ultimate Pro Fixed-Blade Knife is rated 3.75 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from BG! This knife is sweet. This is exactly what I wanted to carry in the backcountry. It feels great on my belt, it has a very low profile fit against your leg. The overall construction of every piece is solid. Great sheath, great knife, and it comes with some good features... The knife comes very sharp, the sharpener works great, the pommel can take a beating, the whistle is extremely loud, and the fire steel spits flames. In the backcountry I wear a Dakine Heli Pack 11L and there seems to be a pocket that fits this knife perfectly! Overall, very happy with purchase and I recommend it! PS: The black and orange color scheme is very sharp too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great knife! Def worth it. But.. Okay, overall a great knife. In terms of quality I give it a 5/5. No doubt. Trained at Tom Brown's Tracker School, I have owned and handled many knives and this one def tops as one of my favorites. That being said I have two issues. Nothing that changes that quality of the knife but my personal two cents. My knife did not come sharp. I've been using the included sharpener, I've ran through it about 400 times and only the upper part of the blade will shave the hair off my arm. I'm pretty sure the factory didn't do a complete sharpening process. I searched the web and there are occasional complaints about Gerber blades coming out of factory like this. It's odd but there it is, my knife was not sharp. Second, the orange needs to go. What's up with that? As a tracker this is def a minus. Let me wear orange so people can spot me. I don't want to come off as I'm trying to show off my knife. Above two are my small complaints and here are more things I wish were diffrent. Whistle. I think it's useless. It's not a good idea to put it on the tang of the knife if you are going to be throwing it for fun. Belt loop is limited to one direction. I like to carry my blade side ways on my back. I need to get creative to get this task done. The Velcro loop is a bit annoying. The blade seems to lock into the knife pretty well without the loop. I'm considering taking the velcro off. I painted the orange part with black marker but it's coming off. :( The full tang is sturdy, you can use the end like a hammer to crush rocks or use as a hammer. 100% awesome there. I love the full tang. Also the fire starter spits small flames like a tiny explosion. I love it. You can easily make fire in the rain with this. The survival guide should not be taken too seriously. It's cute and fun, but if you are in a serious situation.. well. I don't think it will save a lot of lives. Who knows, maybe it will. It's good to curve with and I love the small little finger space at the bottom of the blade. Overall if it wasn't for the color I would give this awesome knife a 5 out of 5.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Knife! Within a week of owning this knife I was putting it to good use getting a group of us out of a slight jam....we often explore "critter trails" when running in the woods (way off the beaten path) and one of them led us (after a few miles of running) straight into a formidable dead-end...the knife was useful for hacking our way (through Blackberry tangles) up the ridge to another trail...and on we went...I love the weight...a lighter knife would not have been as effective at cutting (one handed) lightweight blackberry tangles....sharp as heck too. I custom mounted it (handle down) to my heavy duty camelback so that I can use it in case any of the known animals in the area (cougar & etc.) decide to have us for lunch...the last thing I expected to do was extricate us from Blackberry bushes...but it works.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ugly knife and the blade nicks easily I almost did not purchase this knife because it looks so ugly in the pictures. All that orange with logos for BG and Gerber all over the place. They should pay us for displaying their logos. I did buy it. It's even uglier in person. Logos everywhere. Never took it camping or hunting, just whittled some tent stakes and whacked a couple of twigs in the back yard to get a feel for it. The blade was nicked just cutting some weak ash branches. I took it back. I liked the featu8re of having a firestarter, but the knife was unreliable. And it's ugly. I am a customer, not an ad for Bear Grylis and Gerber.
