Comments about Chaco PedShed Gunnison Shoes - Men's - 2011 Closeout:
I purchased these shoes in brown about 6 months ago. Since then they have been my nearly every day footwear at the office, campouts, walking the winter city streets, and standing for long periods doing volunteer work.
The shoes are very supportive and comfortable. The fit is similar to Chaco sandals, although I prefer these because they lack the pressure points that the stretch-less sandal straps apply.
I have worn them with bare feet. For extra warmth or cushioning, I will pair them with socks.
The soles feature a shallow Vibram tread that is suitable for lower impact hiking or wear around camp.
These shoes are among the best I have worn for standing for extended periods. I do volunteer work that can involve standing and walking on concrete for 8-10 hours at a time, an activity that used to leave my feet very sore with other shoes. The arch support and stable wide soles of these Ped Shed Gunnison shoer seem to work to distribute the pressure, leaving my feet in much better shape at the end of a shift.
After 6+ months of wear, they are almost as new, except for some scuffs in the finish that I trail and winter use have caused. I will be ordering another pair, not because there is anything wrong with mine, but to have another color choice.

Comments about Chaco PedShed Gunnison Shoes - Men's - 2011 Closeout:
I have a difficult time finding comfortable shoes. I've damaged the nerves in my feet mountain biking for over 25 years. I'm always looking for the perfect shoe and sock combo and this is the shoe. Just add a pair or Wrightsock medium thickness socks you're done. I purchased two pairs.

Comments about Chaco PedShed Gunnison Shoes - Men's - 2011 Closeout:
I have a pair of Chaco sandals - have had them for years. GREAT PRODUCT. The size is comparable, if you have their sandals already. They are softer on the foot than their sandals.
However, for the price, I think Chaco should do a much better job of setting the leather dye. It keeps coming out. I have never gotten them wet. And my feet are not sweating... and I am wearing SOCKS (the shame of it :) ) But, the dye still comes out! You at REI should send this eval to Chaco. They have a problem I would only expect from cheap shoes.... this is not an indication of caring about their product.
