Rated5out of5byrex_kramerfromBest 105 Bang For Your BuckThis was basically "Commuter 2.0" for me. I decided to go road instead of hybrid and this was the bike I landed on after carefully searching and comparing specs for the last year. I wanted something lighter, faster and better looking than my 2010 Marin. I also wanted something that could double as recreational ride and not just a daily driver. I bounced back and forth between a few brands, but the Scott kept beating out the other choices mostly because it had the most Shimano 105 components in this price range. Other makes generally had a higher mix of lesser components with similar-looking compact frames. The Speedster 20 had it all and then some.
It's a good ride. Not awesome by any means, but it's better than average as a commuter after putting 60 miles on it the first week. It's nimble enough, steers well and isn't stiff at all, in my opinion. Derailleurs need some tweaking as it has not shifted right since day one. Other than that, no real complaints. Even the stock tires are good enough to keep.
Oh! One "odd" issue with this bike is the color. Everywhere I go online, the color is listed as gray and it looks gray. In person, it looks nothing like gray. I would say the color leans towards black -- more of a charcoal or carbon color. The matte finish may play tricks on cameras, but it is definitely not gray. In my case, this made me even happier as I did not like the color shown on the page. I'm good with black...or "dark gray," lol.
