Comments about WrightSock Hiking Xtra Crew Socks - 2011 Closeout:
There are truly two layers to this sock. They will articulate / slide, so putting on is a bit more cumbersome than some socks. They are not wool and although they breath fairly well, will retain more odor than many other socks. They wear faster than some high-end hiking socks I've tried, but are cerainly good for >1000 miles in my experience.
I've been wearing them as my everyday sock for ~2 years. I hike, backpack, and jog with them. I average ~12 miles of walking per day. I have a few foot conditions that many of us older active people acquire and these socks seem to help a lot.
I have also kept a few spare pairs for newbie or occasional backpacking friends. They seem to prevent blisters and make already injureed feet more tolerable, much like a good hiking sock and liner combination.
Finally, while they are not thin, they are 3 season socks and not meant to provide much warmth.
If you have realistic expectations, you can't beat these.
