Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. Rated3out of5byBrad Herderfrom3 out of 4 is kind of disappointingDescription said: "It's wind and water resistant, breathable and stretchy".
It's NOT water resistant at all. I went out for a 20 minute walk with the dog in a light rain and was soaked through - pretty much right from the start I could tell it wasn't the least bit water resistant. And it's pretty heavy once all that water soaks in.
I bought an XL b/c I'm not thin and sleeves are very long, body is very long.
I got the green color and love it, but really not sure why it's $189, I don't think it's a very advanced jacket at all... just a lightweight stretchy soft-shell. Good for biking in slightly cool weather, probably decent for cross country skiing if going hard, but not warm enough for casual touring with stopping I don't think.

Rated5out of5byed pitzerfromThe widest comfort range of any jacket I know of!I live in Southern Calif. and bought this jacket last October, it is now mid April. I use it constantly and have become completely addicted.
As a Shell: It's close to wind proof plus extremely breathable. I can start hiking on a chilly morning with just this and a base layer. Wear it right through the afternoon and except for the hottest days it's still Ok. Plus it breaths wonderfully. If you hike late into the afternoon and evening as I often do, and things get cold and windy its still good. More often than not, I've been able to go all day with out ever stopping to change. When summer come around, I doubt I will wear it mid day. But it will probably be the only shell I'll need in those conditions.
I've used it almost every week on hikes through out the San Gabriel mountains back of Los Angeles. 3 times on Mt. Baldy at over 10,000 ft. in strong cold winds, plus on many other picks up and down the range. Twice a week I use it on 4 miles each power walks late at night around Redondo Beach. It's great to start out in, though can be too warm on many city nights. But it's wonderful when things get cold and windy. For running it would be too much in this location, but for you that have real winters it might by great.
As a Mid Layer: it works wonderfully! If things get extremely cold and windy, just throw a wind proof breathable shell over it and it becomes a great mid layer. It adds wind resistance and insulation where they are needed most your body core, and breath ability were it's needed most under your arms. Best of all it's not just breathable but wicks much better than any mid layer I have. It transports moisture off and away from a base layer to where your shell can get rid of it.
Is it perfect? Not for me. I wish it had 2 very large chest pocket rather than 1 mid size, but maybe that's just me. Many people might disagree. In any case it's easily the best product I know of in it's class, so I'm giving it 5 stars
I'll try to update this review as I continue to use it.

Rated4out of5bytriman11427fromAmabilisI've used this jacket as an outer layer while riding my Fat tire bike on the beach in 40 deg with 20 mph winds. Jacket performed flawlessly but there was piling of the material on the inside of the jacket.

Rated4out of5bymtaylivefromGreat build quality, quirky detailsBought the jacket for my son. He uses it for school, light trail hikes, and playing outdoor sports.
The craftsmenship and overall style are superb. He just doesn't like the fact that the zipper is oriented for lefties (or the Swiss) and the synching of the hood is overly complex.

Rated5out of5byurbanTechyfromREI is the only place you can get thisI originally went in looking for a Nike long sleeve and walked out with this jacket. I got it in red and it's amazing! It's a very slim fit but it stretches. I'm 5'9" / 130lbs and tried this on as a Small size with a Mountain Hardware slim down underneath. It's basically the perfect soft shell. Super stretchy and soft, I can see my self wearing this as a sweatshirt when it isn't way below freezing out. REI: thanks for working with Mammut to offer this jacket!

Rated5out of5by1MarkfromGreat layer; fantastic for ridingThis is a sick jacket. Period.
I have no idea what Ma-MOOT designed it for, but after a few jogs, rides, and walks-around with it, I think it's probably one of the best shells / mid-layers / bike-commuting jackets I've found. Here's why: it breathes just right, blocks just enough wind, is light enough, and is just warm enough. My arms usually get pretty sweaty when I ride and jog, but that's not an issue with this jacket. Don't expect it to be a super wind-blocker, but at riding speeds up to 25mph and light winds in moderate temps, it works perfectly.
More reasons it's great for riding -- the jacket is nice and slender so there is absolutely no flapping. It's also cut longer in the back so my undies don't show while riding. Reflective accents are nice but are small so you'll still need a blinker (which, by the way, can hang on the outside loop on the back of the jacket just below the hood if the hood is either on or you cinch it in).
Two things not in REI's description that are also cool -- the hood is helmet compliant and cinches down nicely, and there is a hole in the chest pocket to route your headphones internally.
Love this jacket, can't say enough good things. Green color also rules.

Rated5out of5byrob314fromSuper soft soft shellI love this jacket! It is a soft shell that is actually soft and not stiff or rigid.I am a heat producer and wore it two different times on windy cool Alaska days in the upper 30s to low 40s and was comfortable. The jacket breathed well and blocked enough of the wind to keep me warm. The first time I wore it I only had a t-shirt under and got a bit cool when i would take a rest, but the second time wore a long sleeve base layer and a t-shirt and was perfect.Like I said i am a heat producer so keep that in mind before purchasing.
