      I bought this insulation to go with my Platypus Big Zip (http://www.rei.com/product/851503/camelbak-antidote-thermal-control-kit). I signed up for a mountaineering class and I was worried about the hose freezing when we were hiking up mountains in freezing weather.

      This insulation has been great so far. I have never had the hose freeze on a day trip, even when we have been hiking well above the snow line, in cold, rainy, windy, and/or snowy conditions. It did freeze when I left it out in my tent overnight while snow camping, but I suspect this problem could be solved by detaching and emptying the hose and storing in my sleeping bag overnight.
