The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about UCO Clarus LED Lantern:
I bought this lantern instead of the Black Diamond Orbit because they compare favorably in weight, compactness, light output, and general styling and functionality. The Clarus, however, can also be collapsed into a bright and well-focused flashlight which is a great added feature over the Orbit. Although the light-mode switch was a little clunky to use at first (the light is clicked-off between modes in progression from mid to high to low and strobe), I was very happy with the lantern and flashlight functions after a three-day camping trip. It provided bright light over long periods of evening use without a noticeable change in light output on the single set of Energizer batteries I used for three days. The jury is still out on the durability and reliability of the light given other reviews, but it survived being dropped several times and other rough handling during my rainy 3-day excursion. The appreciably lower price may also make it a better value than the Orbit lantern if it proves to be durable which I suspect it will (the materials and manufacture seem very solid to me despite what I've read elsewhere). So far, it has proven to be my favorite new gear addition and I would recommend it highly.

Comments about UCO Clarus LED Lantern:
when iinitially got this produt, i was excited to try it. Having just come back from my first excursion with it, i found it lacking. unfortunately, before my first outing, it was dropped from about 3 feet onto concrete, breaking the lense from the rest of the body. when i tried to secure it again, i found that the screws holding it in place were only about 1/16" into the plastic of the body, and theplastic was stripped. after siliconing it back, i found that the flashlight lacked, as well as the lantern. my headlamp will always be first in my pack. next to that, a black diamond orbit. this product is completely lacking, and i see no reason to carry it alongside my headlamp.

This lantern converts into a nice flashlight....so you can use it as either.....Nice product for little $!

Comments about UCO Clarus LED Lantern:
I am going to compare this light to Black Diamond Orbit, which I have used for two years. In short, Clarus is a cheaper made Orbit, which can be used as a flash light. It claims to be 150 lumens but in reality it is just a bit brighter than Orbit. Between structure of the reflectors and somewhat lacking "frosting" on the diffuser, it can tricky to find a position where you can get most out of this light.
I was actually really exited to try it, since i hoped it would be improvement over Orbit. It isn't, unless you have use for flashlight mode. The built quality is also step down from BD but Clarus also costs less. I think UCO got the right idea, they just need to refine it a little bit.
