Comments about Wilderness Systems Tarpon 130 Sit-On-Top Tandem Kayak:
I bought this kayak as my 20% off item for the anniversary sale last year and it has performed in every aspect I needed it to. I live in downtown Austin right off town lake and I've used it for 2 and 1 man adventures. Since it has a 3rd seat groove between the two main ones I bought a seat that I can clip in and use it for solo cruises. The seats are really comfortable and fold down for when placing on your roof rack to travel. The handles make it easy to carry, 2 on each side and one in front and back. A really neat feature that I didn't realize was that it has locking loops on the side of the kayak so you can secure your paddles when anchored in the water or storing on land. There is plenty of room and space for storage of life jackets, coolers. Fishing gear etc and the 2 cup holders are a plus. I have yet to take it out for an over night adventure but there is so much room you could easily fit everything you would need for a 2+ day trip.
The only downside to the kayak is the width so it is a little slower than the narrow 2 man kayaks but what you lose in speed you gain in space and comfortability. Also, it tracks great and from what I've been told Wilderness Systems is one of the higher quality brands for kayaks. This baby hasn't disappointed me yet. It's the perfect hybrid between being a 2 man day cruiser and a 1 man overnight adventurer.
