Comments about Gerber Bear Grylls Parang II Machete:
This NEW version of the BG Parang is very nice, especially in comparison to it's older brother. This came very, very sharp unlike the user from UT below, mine is perfect for trail maintenance...I guess it depends on which batch you got, he may have gotten one of the older versions. That being said even the sheath has been redesigned. Probably my favorite thing about this Parang is the grip. It feels really good in the hand, and is beefy enough to have a secure hold on. I don't carry mine on a belt, but I do have it mounted to a Dakine Heli Pack 11L which has a slot for it that holds it perfectly! I almost always have this thing in my car, and always in the pack.

Comments about Gerber Bear Grylls Parang II Machete:
I bought this product for backpacking and camping up around the outskirts of Lake Tahoe. Perfect for cutting fire wood, branches the size of my fist. Feels great in your hands and you can put in some work before you feel it. A lot of other Machetes will hurt your hand right away, not this one! Only down fall in my opinion is the carrying case, would be nice if they offered it in a left or right side option hence the four stars.

Comments about Gerber Bear Grylls Parang II Machete:
Initially, I got this for trail maintenance, but I think it will be more useful as a pizza cutter. The blade is simply not sharp enough for trail maintenance. It takes three or four whacks to cut through brush. I took it into a blade shop to get it sharpened and they told me that the machete to meet my expectations was a Norwegian handmade machete that cost about five times as much as this one.
