Comments about Joby Gorillapod Original Tripod:
Very satisfied. My only gripe is that the tripod top will not tilt a full 90 degrees for vertical shots, when the tripod is standing vertically. I could only tilt it about 85 degrees. The workaround is to clamp/wrap the tripod horizontally on a fixed object, if you can find it.

Comments about Joby Gorillapod Original Tripod:
If you are expecting to use this as you would a normal, heavy duty tripod then you will likely be disappointed. However, its adaptability makes this tripod perfect for on-the-go photography when you are never sure when and for what you will need a tripod, and when you don't want to carry a lot of weight. The legs are plastic, and if you try to wrap it around something too tightly they will pop apart, but for a mid-weight camera they have been more than adequate (I have an Olympus E-PL2). I have wrapped the legs around fence poles and railings, set it up on uneven rocks and grass, and used it as a mini tripod to take pictures out my back window off of my desk.
The grip will not always be perfect and sometimes it takes a minute to get it situated perfectly, but the idea of this tripod isn't that you will have a rock-steady tripod; the idea is that you have a tripod that can adjust to just about any situation without weighing you down or taking up too much room, and it accomplishes that task. Once you have it situated correctly, it will hold any reasonably sized camera steady in just about any position, and what more can you really ask from a reasonably-price, lightweight tripod?
Bottom line: If you are going to get flustered if it takes you a minute to get set up or if you don't have the steadiest, most durable tripod available, then don't buy this. However, if you are looking for something light and adjustable that will allow you to take steady pictures in any situation (I do mostly low-light or nighttime shooting and it works fantastically), this tripod is more than worth the money.
Picture: I took the attached picture with the tripod wrapped around a guardrail on top of a dam. This tripod allows you to be creative in getting the exact shot you are looking for, in areas that it would normally be a pain or impossible to carry and set up a traditional tripod.

Comments about Joby Gorillapod Original Tripod:
You get what you pay for. The legs are pretty much all plastic, and making them clamp sturdy to anything is a challenge, if not impossible. I guess for light use, it would work, yet it cannot take a beating. I had one of the legs break as I was trying to get it to clamp firmly to something.
