Used HERO3 for skydiving - worked well first time, while shooting 6 jumps with helmet mounted camera. Second time out, camera began to freeze up and was unusable after about two videos. After many reboots, taking battery in/out, reloading firmware updates, etc., GoPro rep said camera needed to be exchanged for a new one. Research on internet revealed this is a common problem with HERO3 firmware. We will see how the next one does.

It's a tough little camera that weights very little. I thought the action video shots were of great quality.

What I don't like about the camera is the short battery life. I am usually out for a couple of days and without an ability to recharge the battery the camera becomes useless.

I also didn't like the lack of clarity in the actual use of the camera. If it is not something that you are using on a regular basis you need the instructions on you to figure out what and how you are shooting.

So far I have used this camera on a few 5k's, mounted it on the bike for a few rides, put it on a pole with an extension and filled 2 marathons, mounted it on a tripod at the turn of a track to get people running by. Taken to the pool for stroke analysis. Taken it in the lake scuba diving, mounted it to the car for some off road fun, and filmed Christmas lights during the holidays.

It holds up amazingly well, but once in a while when putting it into the case I will bump the WIFI button and drain the battery before I need to. Beware that 1 issue.

I have dropped it a few times and not seen a scratch or scuff.

If you are going to do any underwater to out of water video make sure to put some rainX or the like on the glass portion of the case.

Great camera, so good I now have 2.

I use the camera mainly for mountain biking, and snowboarding. In bright sunny weather the camera is amazing, in low light the image quality seems to suffer a lot, which can be a bit of a problem since in the winter in Alaska it can start to get dark by 3:00 in the afternoon. wish i had sprung for the black edition because it is supposed to have better low light settings.

Filming above and below water in the Bahamas. Camera performs excellent however I find that it is too easy to accidently turn the camera on when in transit or storing in a case or bag etc.
Need some kind of 'cap' to cover the buttons so they don't inadvertantly get pushed...Yuk it out of your bag to get a shot and realize it's been 'on' all day in your bag! Bummer.
Otherwise, so far so great!
