Comments about Salewa Pro Guide Insulated Mountaineering Boots - Men's:
i have about 20 miles on these boots. they arent broken in quite yet but they were comfortable streaight out of the box. no blisters, no hot spots, no heel lift. some of the miles were low land hiking on pretty flat trails to break them in. they are a stiff mountaineering boot but they can easily be used for the approach as well. i like the the climb/walk mode. i havent used the climb mode yet, but i do feel the difference in the stiffness while walking around. i think these boots are going to be very versitile. the boots look really good, and seem to be very robust and well made. this is my first salewa product, i expected them to be well made but they are much more impressive than i thought. i plan on climbing in the alps as well as the himalayas this summer so that should be the big tests, but so far so good.

Comments about Salewa Pro Guide Insulated Mountaineering Boots - Men's:
I just got this boot so this review will only cover first impressions as well as one long day of snoeshoeing/climbing in the alpine. I will add to it after some more experience with the boots. my first impression was "that's a nice looking pair of boots!" these things seem to be very well built, I expected them to be but they are my first set of salewas so I was a little hesitant to order them. the lacing is easy with the laces going close to the toes. and once you get the toes sinched tight enough they stay that way because of the lace locks on the 3rd eyelits. they were surprisingly comfortable right out of the box. I have a fairly wide foot but not very thick so I am prone to heel lift. I dont have any heel lift at all in these. the climb/walk modes switch easily with the allen wrench that came with the boots. the boots online showed that you could change the mode with a coin or something flat but mine can only be changed with an allen wrench, which is kind of a bummer because if you forget the wrench on a climb you'll be out of luck changing from one mode to the other. the next day I went for an all day shoeshoe climb above treeline. it was a warm day so I cant say how they do in the cold yet. I can say that I felt no temperature change after postholing in thigh deep snow all day so I think they will do fine. I plan on doing Rainier and a 2 week climbing trip in the Alps this summer with these and then back to Nepal in the fall. these boots were comfortable throughout the entire day which was a surprise for brand new mountaineering boots. the walk mode does give you some flex in the sole but dont expect it to be a lot, they are still a very stiff mountaineering sole. I had no blisters or hot sports of any kind but obviously everbody's feet are different. so far they seem to be good, well built, comfortable boots and I really like that they have the ability to be used for more than one kind of climbing. hope this helps somebody
