Recover from a long day on the trail with a great night's sleep on the Therm-a-Rest LuxuryMAP™ sleeping pad; it's been updated with light and soft fabrics to improve comfort and reduce bulk.
Rated5out of5byWoodchuckfromWorks GreatI have the Luxury-Map-XL This is the largest one they make. I started with the "L" but fell off it when I rolled over and it woke me up (While testing it at home). The XL just fits in to a "sans bug one man tent" (the corners slightly folded about an inch) this was perfect for me.
I used the Mattress on a mission trip to Honduras. The Therm-a-rest Mattress was recommended by name by those who have been on this trip in the past. As well as the mentioned bug tent. The tent offered a bit of protection for the bottom of the mattress and some protection from sharp objects.
I read the directions the day I took the mattress home and allowed it to inflate over several days. I also allowed it to stay inflated in the days before the trip. When I was ready to use it on the trip it only took a short time to inflate, a few good breaths and it was ready to use.
Although I had choices as to where to sleep, it would be on a bare concert floor (upstairs in the construction area or down stairs on hard tile) I chose out side on a concert porch so I could see the stars.
The mattress keep me insulated form the concert very well. When I first layer down to sleep it was almost 88 degrees at 10:00 P.M. but by 5:00 A.M. it had dropped to below 70 degrees. The mattress never felt cloud and I never made contact with the hard concert even after rolling from back to side to stomach all night long.
The 3" pad was enough to support me comfortably in all sleeping positions. and I am a big person, about 240 lbs.
This pad will fit in a suit case if packed first diagonally, then pack other stuff around it.
My comment to those who feel this mattress does not inflate properly or quickly enough is, "Read the instructions first". The mattress preforms as it says it will the way it says it will if treated the way is says to treat it.
This might be big for back packers.

Rated5out of5bytennessee_cricketfromWonderfulI ordered this mattress for myself last week. It came today. I rolled it out on the floor, let it inflate, and tested it. I loved it. My husband tried it and then requested that I get one for him. So I just ordered a second one. We will bring them when we visit friends and family and end up sleeping on the floor. Perfect!

Rated5out of5byAriana SarahafromYum! Sooo comfortableFor car/van camping, and my nomadic touring-musician life, I haven't found a more comfortable travel bed out there. My road-weary body is so grateful and actually feels like it's sleeping in a real bed for a change.
I would also recommend this as a guest-bed far and above the inflate-a-mattresses, futons, and fold-out-couches too many people offer.
Now if only they could magically make a featherlight version for overseas travel and backpacking ~ but part of its appeal is its solidity and girth (I have the XL). Still, it packs reasonably small enough for vehicle transport, which is currently my primary need.

Rated5out of5bycampfirefromThick, comfortableAge plays havoc on all of us, and I have grown to need comfort in my travels. I camp off my dual sport motorcycle and this works great! Good size, easy to pack on the bike, inflates easy, and is comfortable. Soft, yet on my side, my hips are not grinding into the ground. Great little mini mattress.

Rated5out of5byDorsalfromOne of the best things I've ever boughtI bought this to take to retreats, where I usually end up on the floor on some terrible, stinky foam excuse for a mattress and my hip goes right to the floor. I'm also a raving insomniac and the reluctant host of a never-ending stream of house-guests. After searching through many stores, I sprang for this -- and happy to report my hip and back both love it, but unfortunately all the house-guests too (hey, I'm in Hawaii). This is by far the best compact mattress I've ever found, it's amazing. It has to be enshrined in my panthéon of the great finds of my life, along with a down vest or two, a Nexus tablet, "The River" by Springsteen, a Volvo 122S (and of course, my wife, though I didn't actually BUY her).
Forget schlepping it around much, it's something you'd take from the car a few hundred yards to a campsite, so you may as well go long if you're tall, like me. Honestly, I could be happy using it as my primary bed -- it's great!
[By the way, the only reason I'm on here looking at the thing is that some house-guests went home with their dirty undies the stuff sack. But I still have the mattress.]

Rated5out of5bylxincaliforniafromComfort and QualityThis sleeping pad was being used at home for a few months before taken on a camping trip. I had moved from state to state and had no comfy bed to sleep on, so I checked out the supply at REI and found the Luxury pad. The pad was used everyday on the ground and was kept inflated for over 2 months straight and kept up perfectly! It is well built and is extrememly durable and comfortable! For a 6'0" male at 190lbs it held up quite nicely. If you plan to use it for camping or backpacking, it doesnt store well in a pack because its big! I wouldn't recommend it for trips like that, but I would definitely recommend it for camping trips where you drive to a location and can pack it in your vehicle. This sleeping pad is of the highest quality and is definitely recommended.

Rated5out of5bySubkulturefromBest Camping Pad I've ever usedUsed this camping last weekend and all I can say is "wow!" I've used many Thermarest pads over the years and this one is by far my favorite. First off, it self inflates, which is great, but you have to plan accordingly. When you are setting up camp, make sure to unroll it, open the valves, and let it begin inflating. After a couple hours, simply blow a couple breaths in and you're all set.
As for the comfort, we were camping on hard ground in the Ozarks. I slept well all night and didn't feel sore in the morning. The weather was mild, so I can't say much about its heat retaining values in winter, but it did a great job keeping me warm during a downpour. Only complaint is that the stuff sacks are a little small. You really have to roll it up tight to get them in there. Highly recommended for those who favor comfort over compact pads.
