        Comments about REI Desert Gaiter:

        Bought these mainly for tick protection. I spray them with 0.5% permethrin.

        They won't fit over a low-cut sneaker-type shoe: There is just not enough stretch in the bottom hem to cover the big opening. OK for a low hiker, where you get to cover around 1" of shoe top all around. Still at the limit of stretch, tho.

        Still can't figure out the purpose of the top loop, or why they have the lace hook opening up rather than down.
