by fromMy overnight, backyard test. Let me start by describing the conditions under which this item was used. It was placed in a four-season tent which was pitched over a packed foot-and-a- half of snow, which, for all intensive purposes, was pretty much a solid block of ice. The outside temperature was in the single digits and the tent had frozen snow on the outside and a skim of frost on the inside walls. The sleeping bag placed on it was rated 0 degrees, F. For the first half hour to hour and a half, the comfort seemed to be OK, or acceptable, but gradually, the cold came up through the floor. I must say, though, it was not as bad as it could have been. It was just enough to be noticeable,- to keep me awake. Apart from that, this mat has a lot going for it and I'd highly recommend it for any other time of the year, for the reasons that I checked off, above. I have no doubt that it would be "warm" for the other three seasons.

by fromMost comfortable pad I have slept on Exped's DownMat Lite 5 LW is the warmest most comfortable sleeping pad I have tried yet. It uses 650 fill duck down inside air chambers to insulate the sleeper from the ground. One point that should be made early on is that it is designed to be used on snow and in cold weather, but I have used it in hot jungle climates too and it works exceptionally well in both climates. It is water proof so the down doesn't get wet and loose loft, the down however is not treated so they recommend never using your breath to inflate the mat because the humidity can ruin the down and create mildew so they include a small foam hand pump or "snozzel" bag to inflate the mat. One of the best things about this mat is you will not feel the ground no matter how you sleep front back or either side and it is thick enough to hold you off the ground. One last note is that it does come with a repair kit in a pocket on the stuff sack.

by fromLightweight and comfortable. Comfortable sleeping pad, true luxury on a hike. This pad has a surprisingly large surface area, but packs down to same size as smaller pads. Seems durable and warm enough.

by fromTotally cushy. Top 3 comfort item. I've used a closed cell ultralight (but bulky) pad for years and supplemented it with a cheap, heavy but effective inflatable. The Exped changed the game. Warm, comfortable, easy to use. It lets me run a lighter summer bag in the shoulder seasons. I'm to the point in life where if I can get a good nights sleep, I can survive anything on the trail. I can never go back. I will be interested to see how durable the product is. It appears to be pretty solid but I will be treating it much gentler than my zlite i.e. not sitting on it around fire or drying off on it by the creek or sharing it with my dog. Small price to pay for extreme comfort. Love the slightly larger side tubes to keep you from rolling off. More "skid-resistant" than I expected in that sleeping bag doesn't slide to the bottom. Initially, it seems like it will take forever to inflate with included pump but then, all of a sudden, its inflated and done! Also, it actually fits in the included stuff bag.

by fromSay it with me. Com-fort-able Enjoying this sleeping pad by Exped. I am a side sleeper that tends to roll over a lot when I sleep so the 26in width has been a blessing to me. No more waking up every time I roll. This pad is warm and comfortable at a reasonable weight. The pump tends to give an arm workout, but saves your lungs after a long days hike.

by fromSo comfortable and warm This sleeping pad is awesome. It's super warm, decently light, very comfortable and a good price. We switched to these because the REI lite-core pads we had were no good. As the night got colder the air in them would contract, and we ended up on the floor, freezing cold, every time. (There was no puncture either, trust me we checked). These pads are great. They pump up with lots of air, so you never get any "deflation" unless there is actually a puncture (which only happened once, was totally my fault, and was really easy to repair). As an added bonus, because they pump up so high, they even out all those small hard lumps on the ground, making them very comfortable to sleep on. They are also very warm. I get *very* cold at night, but with this pad plus a good Marmot sleeping bag and some thermal layers, I'm toasty warm. I'm 5' 8", my boyfriend is 5' 10", we both use a size medium, it fits like a charm. I occasionally slide down the end if we're camping on uneven ground, but I never fall off the sides. I can't recommend them more. I think they provide excellent comfort and warmth for their price and weight.

by fromExcellent for the price Overall the mat is very comfortable for me. I am 6' tall and weight 195 lbs. It's just barely big enough for my frame but I don't seem to slip off of it thanks to the larger air cells on the edges. The mini pump is easy enough to use although for speed the schnozzle is what you want to use for all EXPED mats. The only minor issue is there is no dedicate deflating valve as on other EXPED mats. For the price though I am very satisfied.

by fromGreat Product All Around This is a great pad for 3 and 4 season backpacking trips. It packs down to a really nice, manageable pouch, and the foam pump is a brilliant solution for fast inflation. It holds air very well; my longest continuous use is two nights on one inflation, and I doubt it lost any air at all. In snow/ice camping situations your greatest pressure point might get a little cool through the night, but for the weight and price you'd have a hard time finding something better. Only other con is that it can slip around a bit at night, but if you're looking for a minimalist pad that's warm and comfortable, you can't go wrong with this.
