Comments about Big Agnes Q-Core SL Sleeping Pad:

When I viewed the pad, I knew something was up. I pumped it up to find that it's a full 1 1/2 inches too narrow, and several inches too short.
I measured it thinking it must be my imagination. Nope. It's not as advertised.
It doesn't sound like much of a difference, but it's the difference between your arms staying on the pad, and laying on the ground (for me at least). I can't recommend it for that reason.

Comments about Big Agnes Q-Core SL Sleeping Pad:

I used this pad over a weekend on the MD AT. It was the best night sleep I have had on the trail yet. I purchased the pumphouse to make it easier to inflate. This is a great product.

Comments about Big Agnes Q-Core SL Sleeping Pad:

I had been looking for a sleeping pad that packs small. Of sleeping pads in the store, the Q Core SL was one of the lightest, had a higher R value, and compact. I used it over several nights below freezing and was glad I had the extra R value of the Big Agnes. I slept great. The only negative comments I have are, I did slide a bit when sleeping on a site not completely flat and it does take more time to inflate.

Comments about Big Agnes Q-Core SL Sleeping Pad:

Great product, very comfortable. However, the fabric is way too slippery and at least once a night I slide off the pad. This is more pronounced that other pads because it is 3 inches high, so when I start to slide I end up off the pad. I am a side sleeper and tend to move around a little at night. Putting the pad in a bivy sack on perfectly level ground doesn't help. Otherwise the pad is great, but it is going back because of how slippery it is. My friend has a NeoAir All season pad that I have used and it is just as comfortable and isn't so slippery.

I wanted a light, comfortable, warm sleeping pad that was durable and quiet. This fits the bill perfectly. I like the way the thicker tubes on the sides hold you on the pad. I'm 6', 180 lbs and it fits me fine.

This pad was very comfortable. I used it with my new LuLu +15 women's sleeping bag. The only trouble I had with this pad was I was unable to roll it up compactly to fit back into the storage bag.

Comments about Big Agnes Q-Core SL Sleeping Pad:

The mattress inflated surprisingly fast, which was good considering that I was tired the first time I inflated it. With every other airmattress I have owned, I have woken up in the middle of the night laying on the cold hard ground because the air inside compressed so much when the ground cooled. This one held its shape throughout the night. The waffled design also seemed to help distribute the support evenly.

In the morning, it rolled up easily and didn't take up much room in the panniers.

Comments about Big Agnes Q-Core SL Sleeping Pad:

This thing is super comfortable. I am 5'-10" and 225 lbs and at 3.5" thick, properly inflated you can sleep on your side and still not feel anything but air underneath you. I bought the Long Wide version for the extra 5" in width, which I think most people would benefit from. You gotta be pretty skinny to sleep on something 20" wide and at only 5oz more than the regular, it was a no brainer for me. Another thing I love about this is, it's the perfect size for my Big Agnes Seedhouse SL2 Tent. I always orient my tent so my head is on the high side if there is any slope. So, lengthwise it can't slide down my tent since it fits it perfectly. I recently took it to Big Bend NP with low temps in the lower 40's in the mountains and it kept me very warm too. Is it expensive, yes, but it is worth it if you want the ultimate in space saving, light weight, comfort. Period.

Comments about Big Agnes Q-Core SL Sleeping Pad:

This is the sleeping pad that made me give up my hammock. Until I tried this pad I was convinced that hammock camping was the only lightweight way to get a good night sleep in the back country. However, I was dead wrong.

Last month I went on a trip in sub freezing temps, since hammocks are a bit cold, I decided to use a cheap tent I already had, and try out a modern sleep pad. So, I went to my local REI and spent over an hour testing every sleeping pad there. Many of the heavy ones were comfortable, but as I like to keep my base weight under 16lbs, they were simply too heavy for my personal taste.

Since I always prefer to go lighter whenever possible, I tried out the Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XLite. I was especially interested in that pad since I saw that it had many good reviews on the web. However, I found that the crinkly noise it produces is too loud for me to ignore. It would be like trying to sleep atop a space blanket. So, I narrowed it down between the Big Agnes Q-Core SL, and the Therm-a-Rest NeoAir All Season. That was a tough choice for me, and I do recommend trying both out for yourself. But, ultimately, the Big Agnes Q-Core SL won out for me.

The only downside I can think of is it is a bit tough to inflate. I plan on replacing one of my dry bags with the Big Agnes Pump House bag to use for inflation.

To summarize, I'm very glad I found this pad I have since forgotten all about my hammock.

Side note: with stuff sack and patch kit my 20x72" pad weighs in at 19.5oz on my scale.

This is my second ultralight pad, my first being the Thermarest NeoAir, so I have another product in this same category to compare it to.

What I like about the QCore SL:

                          - Comfort. The depth of the pad (3.5 inches) allows you to be on bumpy or uneven ground and still feel like you're almost laying on a pillow top mattress. I like the individual cells better then other manufacturers which have long tubes either running lengthwise or width wise.
                          - Perceived Durability. The material, although light, feels strong to me for its weight. So far I have not had an incident with this material. I do use a tent footprint and I only use this pad inside the tent.
                          - Weight. This weighs a bit more than my Thermarest, but not much more. It is a light pad. The other factors I just cited outweigh the slight weight difference.
                          - Quiet. No crinkly noises to cope with.

                          Things to consider:

                          - It takes me 22 really deep breaths to fill this. Taking breaks so I don't pass out, this takes several minutes to fill. It initially took longer to empty than I had expected. I found if I lay on it with the valve open, that gets the majority of air out the easiest way possible.
                          - The pad is most comfortable when not blown up to max capacity. For me, I'd say the 85% mark is about ideal.
                          - I got the 72"L X 20"W version, and I'm 5'5 and 130lbs. The pad seems pretty narrow at first (my other pad is 24" wide) but surprisingly after sleeping on it several nites, I never got the impression that it was "too small". E.g., I never rolled off (possibly thanks to the outside cells which are taller than the inside cells) or had limbs noticeably hanging off the sides. If you are a much wider person than I am, you may have a different experience on this topic.
                          - I thrash around a lot while sleeping and the pad is smooth and not "grippy", so moving around was not a problem at all.

I would definitely recommend this pad.
