Rated5out of5byoncewasfrombe careful you order the correct sizeIt's a good boot but I read where people stated the boot ran big. So I ordered a half size smaller than I normally wear and they are too small. I was going to return them for a half size bigger but being on sale my size was gone. I can still wear them just with out socks.

Rated3out of5byGeneralistfromVery light, fit well, but no traction!I took these shoes to Uganda for two weeks and wore them everyday. I did quite a bit of strolling in cities and villages and they held up fine. Dried very quickly, vent well and look great! I also own a pair of Merrell Chameleon 3s, so I had high expectations for the Proterras.
The greatest downside to these shoes is they offer little to no traction on wet surfaces. Several times I found myself sliding down a slight decline, while my companions in tennis shoes or sandals had no issues at all. I assume the Vibram sole was left off to reduce weight, but they really sacrificed traction when constructing this shoe.
Overall I loved the fit and look of these shoes, but I will be returning them for something with more traction on wet surfaces. If you're looking for a slick looking hybrid hiking/walking shoe, these would be a great fit.

Rated5out of5byOld Hiker2fromExcellent for Day HikingI hike a steep 1100' hill for an average 3 mile roundtrip 6 days a week. Mostly rocky and crushed rock. Due to weak ankles I need a mid boot for support. I have used the Merrell Reflex (Mid), now only available at Cabella's, for several years. When the Proterra (Mid) became available I decided to try it out for spring, summer, and fall hiking. It is lightweight, sure footed, comfortable and durable. I was concerned about getting a stone bruise with such a lightweight boot but so far I'm very pleased with the product.
With the Reflex I wear a size 10 but the Proterra I have is size 9.5. I don't hesitate recommending this boot for day hiking with a light pack.
