Comments about La Sportiva FC ECO 3.2 GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:
I had a trip planned to hike the very rugged and varied terrain of the Camino de Santiago. A wonderful pair of comfortable hiking boots I had worn for years, developed a hole in the heel just days before my trip. Not knowing what to buy to replace them, with no time for break in, I searched the reviews on REI's website, then went to the store to try some styles that were recommended. This boot fit my foot the best and felt good from the start. There was honestly no breaking in and they were comfortable all 90 miles of my journey in all kinds of weather. We walked 15 miles a day for six days and I never had a blister or sore feet. Since returning, I wear them on my daily 3 mile walks. With the great support and comfort, couldn't think of wearing anything else. I also think socks are very important in regard to blisters. So many on the hike got blisters and some felt it was because of the poor fitting socks they were wearing.

Comments about La Sportiva FC ECO 3.2 GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:
If my feet could smile... they would! I finally found a pair of boots that work! I have hammer-toes... really bad. In fact the REI specialist who helped me had the same problem; she calls them Frankentoes. I got a good laugh and a perfectly fit pair of boots. There was zero break in period. I went out and did 7 miles on a hard/rocky/slippery/muddy/stream ridden trail my first outing. No toe-bang (which about crippled me in my Trekstas).
The ankle support is great and the laces stay tied no matter what I'm doing. At the end of the hike I don't feel the need to peel out of my boots immediately. These are wonderful.

Comments about La Sportiva FC ECO 3.2 GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:
These boots are just what I have been looking for speedy long day hikes!
I tried out a lot of boots that made my arch, ankle, and/or toes hurt. I had found boots that work but were slowing me down for a speedy day hike (3lbs 6 oz full leather boots).
To prepare for the Whitney trail in one day, I bought these because they are lighter (2 lbs). I recently tested it on a one day 16 mile, 5000 ft gain/loss hike up San Gorgonio mountain and these boots rocked! I didn't have to break them in, my arch and ankle felt great. The repeated down hill climb did make toes on my right foot a little sore but no damages to toe nails. The boots have great traction and just the perfect stiffness and flexibility.
I have not really tested the waterproofness, I did have to step in some snow drifts and my feet remained dry.
Service and delivery comments:
Thank you to the nice lady at REI tustin for being so patient. I must have asked her to bring out 10 pairs of shoes.

I purchased the boots for a trip to Turkey where we travelled to Cappadocia to hike. The boots had great traction and were the perfect purchase.

The La Sportiva had virtually no break-in time. The placement of the mesh outersole across the foot makes the boots very flexible while the leather over the toebox keeps it sturdy. Through the very chilly, wet,and muddy spring, my feet have stayed warm and dry on multiple day hikes. The height of the shaft is a bit higher than some other mids and hit above my ankle but very comfortable . A great boot, worth the price!

After a couple of short walks around town, I took these out last weekend for their first "real" hike (6 miles). Being spring in the Pacific NW, it rained non-stop the entire time, and I crossed several small streams. My feet stayed dry, warm, and comfortable the entire time. This is my first pair of La Sportiva boots, but so long as they hold up, they probably won't be my last.

Really good traction, the flexible front of shoe means that break in required is minimal. I wore them hiking 10 miles a day over rough terrain for two weeks and was satisfied - they held up really well and were water proof in small streams. They did give me blisters in wierd places (tips of my toes, heels) but this may be a fit issue - I think I got them a little too roomy. I just wish that they laced up higher on the ankle to lock them in and reduce heel rubbing. I ended up wearing them with duct tape on my heels (great blister prevention).

Bought these boots for hike to Phantom Ranch in the Grand Canyon in late spring. Am wearing them for regular hikes on various trails now. The boots are comfortable, sturdy, light weight and easy to clean. A good tip -- take the insoles out after each hike to let them dry. And, it may sound silly, but unlike every other pair of boots I have ever owned, these have laces that stay tied. Love not having to stop to tie them all the time.

I own two pairs of these boots. I plan on hiking the Camino de Santiago later this year and have been using these lightweight, comfortable boots to train in. Very easy break-in, plenty of toe room, nice snug fit in the heel area and lots of support. These are waterproof without making my feet hot. Excellent ankle support for rocky trails. I have every confidence that these boots will take me all the way to Compostela! Buen Camino!
