Comments about Marin San Anselmo DS2 Step-Through Women's Bike - 2013:
I'm short (5'1"), so when I decided to get a bike as an alternate to running (the military is not kind to knees), I was afraid I would have to shop in the kids section. This bike had a perfect seat-to-pedal length, and the bar slopes down enough that I can stand flat-footed on the ground. I mostly ride on roads, but most roads on base have a good area on the side where gravel has "drifted" onto the road. The wider tires give me good traction when I can't ride out in the middle of the lane, and the shocks make it comfortable when I have to take a tank trail as a safer route. The gears change smoothly, with no jerky switching. I never really liked flat handlebars before, but these ones have me changing my opinion. It's light enough that I have no problem carrying it up the flight of stairs to my room after a ride. The only problem I've had is that the seat is a bit uncomfortable, but that just may be that I haven't ridden in a long time and need to get my backside back in shape.
