Comments about REI Half Dome 4 Tent:
We bought this tent for a backpacking trip with friends outside of Bozeman, MT. It has stood up to thunder, lightning, high winds, and a couple of inches of rain when yard camping at my parents farm in southern MN trying it out before our trip with no moisture or wind problems. It was lightweight when packing 2.5 miles up a trail in the mountains and withstood light hail in the mountains. We have also used in car camping at Itasca and it is so easy to set up that my seven year old can figure it out. I have no complaints and likely will buy a second one for when we have a larger group-manage two adults and two kids with sleep sacks and pack mattresses and is no more cozy than any tent seems to be. vestibules are great for storage.

Comments about REI Half Dome 4 Tent:
We have the 2012 version of this tent, but the pole design on the 2013 looks to be the same still. This is a good tent as long as it doesn't get too windy. Unfortunately, it started to collapse on us at around 30 mph winds. Looking to replace this ASAP with a tent that can take a bit more!

Comments about REI Half Dome 4 Tent:
Purchased this tent for a recent camping trip. The tent is absolutely wonderful, it is spacious enough to sleep 4 people (shoulder to shoulder) and still be very lightweight and pack small. It is extremely easy to set up and take down. During our trip, the tent withstood 2 nights of thunder storms and another night of hail storms and random snow showers throughout most days . The rain fly held up amazingly and provides a decent sized shelter, near both entrances, to allow you to keep gear outside and dry. There was little to no condensation, even on the coldest night (28 F). Also there is plenty of storage pockets throughout the tent and strategically placed loops to hang lanterns or gear. I have not used it for backpacking yet but because it packs up and weighs about the same as my old 2 person tent, I am sure that it does just fine.
