Comments about CygoLite MityCross 800 OSP Front Bike Light:
Great, powerful light I bought to use on trails. Now I use it on the street for commuting. It switches easily to lower brightness for street use. Flash mode is bright and visible for a distance. Mounting options are solid and provide quick on and off. The battery velcros on easily.
One button light control is tricky when you want to switch to flash mode:
Plug in, obtain bright constant light, depress button for 2 seconds, light goes off, depress button again for 2 seconds, release, and the light will turn on in flash modes.
Unless . . .
Quirk--This sequence does not work reliably if the light is low on power and the power indicator is flashing. Charge it up and it switches fine. Try to figure out the correct sequence without instructions when the power is low and you will be extremely frustrated. I speak from experience.
Also, the rigid power cable can pull the power connector out of the light head if it has too much slack. Against intuition I turned the battery upside down and routed the power cable the long way up from below the battery to the light and the connector has not popped out since.
I would recommend.

Comments about CygoLite MityCross 800 OSP Front Bike Light:
It works and it was an upgrade from my first light and so I tried hard to be happy with it.
It cuts it for everything up to faster and or more twisting trail riding.
The light seems quite sturdy and the beam spread is decent no black spots.
But while it's easy to turn on off and go thru the 3 brightness settings the rest of the features feel like they might as well not exist considering how hard it is to get the button to access them your supposed to push the side and have it access the features like slow flash. I've only managed it 3 times in 6 months.
The cord pulled out of the battery on me withen the first month and just kept doing it so I would stick it back in it's little rubber thing and go huh that's kinda lame no harm. Well now the rubber thing is stuck back into the battery case so there's just wires and a hole in my case...still works not exactly water resistant, not exactly what I want out of a 200 dollar light.
I personally suggest magicshine for the same price you can get 2000 Lum* I'm getting the MagicShine MJ-880 front light.
Did some research after avoiding them buying my first lights because it seemed odd they should be so much better for the same price. I hear it's because asia is mass producing and taking over the low end of the market.
OH right the one I'm getting is helmet mountable can attach on the lower tube of your bike and uses rubber instead of velcro.
REI is still my fav for outdoor goods but they are starting to lose my respect for including so many inferior products in their line. I don't like taking things back but I don't like buying defective goods for Very fair prices much more.
